seizure??
 

I have a female Yorkie who will turn 4 in November. This past week she had some weird symptoms on two separate days. She started to shake intensely, her tongue was hanging out completely, she kept lowering herself to the ground, ears back, and eyes staring at me -seemed like they were saying "help me". This lasted from 15-20 minutes. I held her but she would get up and wander like she wanted to hide and then she would return to me.
I took her to the Vets on the first occasion, but the symptoms were gone except for shivering which could have been due to fear of the doctor's office. Has anyone ever experienced anything similar with their Yorkie? judyjudyjudy

i found a few threads , people going through the same thing, at the top there is a search click on it and type in seizers then go and they will come up. i hope they help

If this was my dog, I would probably ask the vet to do a full blood panel and see if there is anything up... and I'd also request a fasting bile acid test to rule out any Liver Shunt or MVD...

It's always scary when things like this happen... my little boy had a seizure when he was about a year old... I called the vet and he told me to just watch him and let him know if it happened again. He said there wasn't anything he could do if he wasn't seeing the seizure... He's now 9 years old and hasn't had anything else happen. I hope you can get to the bottom of this and your baby doesn't have any more seizures...

Our mini bull had a seizure one day about 9 months ago. Same symptoms. It took her about an hour to recover and walk normally. Everything I read said watch and document when they happen and to see a vet if it happen more than 2x in one month. I have not had a repeat of that event since. I could have been a fluke, ate something or a chemical she got into. However thank God it has not happened again, I feel for you, they are very scary. My DH thought she was haveing a really active dream, ok he's nuts. Anyway, wish you the best and pray there are no more... Don't forget to document the day, time and all symptoms just in case..

Seizure
 

My four year old recently had three seizures within four hours.
Search my thread, I am on the Sick/Emergency.
So far after three vets, they diagnosed Pancreatitis, we are waiting for the Acid Bile Test result.
Has she had an upset stomach? Maybe she ate something?
My prayers and thoughts are with you.

We have a 9year old yorkie. 2 1/2 years ago Bailey (male) had a seizure. Our vet did some bloodword and we were told to see if it happened again (bloodwork was stellar).

Fast forward to last Tuesday afternoon. A seizure at 4:30pm. He shakes it off and goes about his afternoon and a call to the vet is made. Bring him in. before we could get there he has another seizure, then another, then another, then another, etc. This continues until nearly 11pm and no vet can stop them and they are happening every few minutes. So terrible to watch. An emergency Animal Clinic takes him and puts him on a propathol drip to knock him out until 8am. I picked him up and brought him to our vet where he was coming out and now getting valium. He was still seizuring and paddling. We FINALLY got referred to a neurologist for animals and brought him there (an hour away). He's there now and getting polypropylene.

He's getting better, but not out of the woods. My wife is going to visit him this morning. This is costing us a fortune (thousands and thousands of dollors), but we took the responsibility of caring for him when we adopted him into our family. The specialist said he had half a chance when we brought him in and that's all we needed to hear.

Why am I posting this? I was researching seizures in Yorkies and found this forum and saw we were not alone and it's more common than we ever thought. I'm finding that it's also good therapy to share this.

We are all praying for Bailey. He has been sleeping with my wife for the last 9 years every single night *they snuggle) and we have 2 girls (6 and 4) who are writing him notes to get better. He really is family and is worth every penny.
