Trimming the ears....Need Advice Ok...so I've tried to trim Lily's ears and it's not going so well. She is so scared of the sound...:( I bought a new trimmer and it's loud as well, so tried a mustache trimmer...and she's scared of it too. I'm very worried that I'm going to scare her so much that when she goes to the groomer she'll be afraid right off the bat. When I did get it trimmed (not what it's supposed to be but I did get some hair off) the one ear came up, but they are both needing them trimmed so bad I really don't know where to turn or just give up on the whole ear's being up thing. How do I get them shaved without terrifing her??? |
try using scissors with sharp tips. my mom has been doing that for years. i went to cosmetology school so i bought her a pair of professional ones. i jsut got my pup so i havnt done it yet only she has but theres no noise hope this helps |
For the ears it would be really easiest for scissors. I trimmed Karlee's ears (when we still had our furbaby- and she was around 15 weeks)and gave her a snack and toy to keep her occupied while I held her I trimmed holding her ear between my index finger and middle finger up close where I could see and trimmed around her ears. She did really great and the next day her ears were up! You will do fine and I promise you can do it just make sure you have plenty of light to see and make sure your furbaby is happy with a snack or toy and it will be easy! |

Me too. :( Ollie is almost 5 months and his ears are still floppy. He would eat my arms off if I tried to get noisy clippers near his ears. He will barely even let me touch them at all!!! So what we've done is to put him on the counter with a towel under him and have one person standing there with treats and me there with scissors and I do the best I can. Be SUPER careful you don't knick her ear or she'll never let you do it again. Just trim the edges and then hack away at the hair on the back of the ears as best you can. We laugh that Ollie looks like he got in a fight with a lawnmower and the lawnmower won!! But we get most of it off. They're still floppy though!! :( We don't really care, we actually think it makes him even more adorable. Good luck! |
