sick? Callie has just not been acting right sense I had to rush her to the vet thursday because she was swallowing very hard and coughing and they looked at her and she stopped by the time we got to the vet and they didnt find anything but her ears being a little inflamed, so I have been cleaning her ears once a day and putting the drops in like I'm supposed to well, last night she was not having it and I tried a millions ways of holding her but it just didnt happen. Well her nose is runny like drippy not just wet, she seems cold a lot, is sleeping more, is acting strange, listening but not as well as normal. So I'm calling the vet in the morning but when we go if they dont find anything I wanna ask them to maybe do a blood test to check for things but I really dont know what to have them check for any suggestions about what could be wrong and what I should have them check for? |
My Eva just went through 3 weeks of drops in her ear for ear infections. Wasn't until it started to cause her nose to run and she became a bit flu like that the Vet looked really deep into her canal and sure enough they were red, so they swabbed really well and found the bacteria and yeast. I found that the ear that was the worst was so sore that i could barely get the dropper in. I had the vet assistant show me how deep I could go and it was pretty deep, so with her bad ear I had to not go in so far at first but squeeze more in then tip her head around to help work it down the canal. After about 3 days of getting the drops in deeper I could go right in and give a good squirt and she fellt much better. Took well over a week for the nose to clear. Oh and my vet told me not to clean Eva ears, that most ear cleaners would cause burning and then going in the second time with the drops would be even harder. I really wanted to clean them because they were smelly but I held off. I think it may have helped. Hope your baby feels better soon. |
Did they check for foxtails? A foxtail can bury very deep and almost not be visible. It can cause sneezing and coughing and inflammation and a runny nose. The foxtail could be in the ears, nose or down the throat around the tonsils. Ask your vet about it. |

When we took her in last week they swabbed her ears for yeast and didnt find any and they checked her throat very good. She hasn't rubbed her ears in a couple of days or acted like they hurt. I wish she could talk and tell me what was wrong it would be so much easier :) |
