Capt Noonie's Strange Behavioural Quirks What hilarious furbutts we have, huh? Uni does so many funny wierd things. She has way too much attitude. I HAVE to put ice cubes in her FILTERED water. If it's super hot and there's only one in there, she looks at me like, what? only one?! If I don't put any, she's like, What, no ice?! When it's feeding time, and after I offer her some and she doesn't want to eat it, I pretend I drop it on the ground and say "You dropped one!" and she'll eat it, and eat the rest. When she pees she turns counter clockwise, but when she does her "chase your tail" trick she turn clockwise. She waits for "Uncle" to come home (my BIL) and when she hears a noise outside she will growl. Most of the time she is sitting on a stool next to me on the computer. If she growls, I will turn to stool so she is facing the other way, but she will just turn and walk around to face the door again. I keep turning, and she keeps walking, so it's a little stool treadmill. She LOVES chewing on necklaces. IDK why?? She sneaks in my purses when she thinks I am leaving without her. Everytime I leave my shop to do an errand (my bf is still there with Uni) and I come back and pull into my parking spot, she pops her head out the door's glass to watch me come back. Everytime I come back from said errands with bags, she puts her big nose in there expecting everything in there is for her! That's all I can think of now. How about your furbutts? What funny and unique quirks do they have? Please share! |
Ok, no one wants to share their furbutt's quirks??? |
Morkie Belle has strange habits My Morkie Belle does strange things quite often. She does what I found out are called zoomies. They just come from no where. All of a sudden she's off with no warning we just have to be alert to get out of the way. Our other furbaby is our Lab/Springer mix who is 11 years old. When we brought Belle home for about 2 days he was like "what did I do to deserve this?" Belle adopted him immediately, or mainly his tail! She follows him everywhere so that when he sits or lays down, she can lay on his bail. She won't chew on her chewie things unless she can be on his tail. TJ (lLab) loves to just keep getting up and moving just to irritate her. Lately Belle has decided that our couch pillows should have no stuffing in them! Nothing makes her happy than to be surrounded by an ocean of pillow stuffing. Belle also likes to sleep on her back by me on the couch but her head has to be hanging over the edge of the couch. She surprises us almost daily with the strange things she does. Usually they are something she is going to get in trouble for but I guess she feels it's worth it. |
:D Awww lil Uni she has such the personality!! I knew that when I met her :D Hmmm lets see what Pnut does.. He will strech even if he just got up.. He likes to come up on me or DH and stretch and he will put his feet on your face... When he wants under the blankets he will use his paw to scratch my eye.. yeah it hurts too!! I will usually get poked in the eye with his nail or he will scratch a hole in my head lol and if I ignore him he will do it harder! When I go to give him a treat and he hears his treat jar opening he wont come to me to get his treat he will jump on the couch and wait for me to bring it to him! lol Brat!! If I go somewhre and pnut cant come , when I leave he will jump on the couch and watch me leave from the window. In the morning when we wake up he will run around the house, run to me and to the slider door until I open the slider so he can go lay in the morning sun. He will walk around the house when he wants to bury his favorite bone toy... and he will whine when he cant find the spot. If he is buring it and he thinks it isnt good enough he will stop and walk away, and go look for another one, he will do that until he thinks he found the right spot! Thats about all I have :D |
LOL!! Oh Uni, you're so funny. Hmm... Jackson's got a few quirks himself. He WILL NOT eat any potatoe prodcuts. It's the oddest thing. There could be 1917711 potato chips laying on the floor, won't touch one. There could be a gigantic monster sized french fry bin from McDonald's on the floor -- won't touch ONE.single.fry. Ha, not that that is a BAD thing.. I'd prefer him not to eat chips and fries but I've never seen a dog not want them. |
When it's time for Sophie to go outside to poo she will go out to the edge or back of the yard or on the other side of the air conditioner unit, tree or bush so I can't see her doing "it". If I walk up to her while she is doing her business she gives me a "look" and then find another hidden spot and watches me to make sure I'm not looking at her. She demands her privacy :embar:! Then she runs up to the door at 100 mph! Jackie & my :littleangSophie :aimeeyork |
Uni sounds like a real charater. I bet she is so much fun to be around!!:) |
When I let them out in the morning to go do their toilet Rosie has to have a stetch. But she has to do it against the wall, she'll literally climb up the wall until shes at full stretch. She also moans when shes ' making her bed' before lying down to sleep. Alfie has to empty the entire draw even though he only wants his favourite toy out. |

Super cute stories! Keep em coming! |
No more? Ok I will give some more  Uni plays fetch with herself. With a ball, she will sit atop the couch and drop the ball and have it roll under a chair or something, and she will crawl all the way under it to retrieve it. With a bully she will throw it and toss it in the air, and be sooo proud of herself then go and get it. :D |
Aww! I always see all these beautiful pictures of everyone's pup, but it's quite another thing to be able to picture their quirks. Love it! Let's see ... I don't know how many I can think of off the top of my head ... I almost named Addie Patton because she does the "army crawl." She'll stretch her front paws out in front of her with her belly on the ground and use her front paws to pull herself along the carpet. She doesn't do it for long, and she doesn't get very far, though. At around 10pm, Addie will start making noises and stare at me. She knows it's walking time. If I continue to ignore her, she will sit on my lap and stretch her paws up to my chest. If Addie wants something, and she feels I'm not understanding her awesome communication skills, she will climb above me (like on the top of the couch) and scratch furiously at my head. That one actually kind of hurts. :D If you carry a towel, be sure it's not dragging anywhere near her level or it becomes her new toy. Don't wear long dresses. That also becomes her toy, and she'll try and rip it right off of you. :p She loves to lick feet. No one is allowed to wear shoes in the house, so there are plenty of opportunities for her. If you wear slippers, she's going to attack them. Her thoughts: TOY! She loves sniffing, greeting and chasing dogs but hates it when the dogs greet/chase her. You should have seen her when my nephew's slightly-larger yorkie "power-walked" after her. Both refused to run, so it was just a power-walking train all around the house with Addie leading the way. She's afraid of trash cans (the ones you leave outside your house). She hates it when mom reads the newspaper. Every time, she will jump onto mom's lap and sit herself right on the newspaper. That'll teach mom to read. |

No one else wants to share their pups quirks??? |
I left Mia for 3 weeks, and now she is being a brat. She was very well cared for, but now whenever I sit down she pops up next to me with her ball and growls at me until I play with her. In the morning I take her out of her crate for cuddle time in bed with me for a bit. I always hope she will go back to sleep, so I give her a chew, and she will only chew it if her butt is pushing up against me. Ummm no thank you!! But 30 minutes more sleep is worth a butt on my arm, leg, shoulder etc... When I say come on lets go to bed, she runs to the front door....this is a new one..my hubbie would take her pee out front while I was gone, before she would go to bed. (Scares me to death, cause of the coyotes in the hills) Carefully I will let her go in our enclosed court yard... If anyone in the family goes to the fridge icemaker in the door, that is her cue to run to the fridge and bark until they give her an ice cube. She does the shopping bag thing too. Thinking if I bring anything home, it must be something for her. If I am taking a bath she runs to get her ball, and drops it in the tub, bath time is not time for me to rest, but time for her to play ball. The best part of this last one is when we have guests!! If they use the bathroom downstairs the door does not always close all the way. If she hears the bath water running, she does not care who it is...she will shove into the bathroom and drop the ball in !! When my son was over, he was surprised, and happy to play with her! *he's a good sport! When I take her to my girlfriends house, who has yorkies, she walks in like she owns the place. She thinks she is alpha wherever she goes. She goes to their giant toy basket, and will pull every toy out of the basket and cover the living room floor with each and every one. She is looking for the loudest, most annoying rubber toy ! When she finds it she will squeak it until our eardrums bleed......Then she is happy, and will sit on my lap. |

Um let me think!!! Kiki loves to watch me clean. She will follow me around and stares as if she is taking notes or maybe she is making sure I don't miss a spot. When I mop she has a stool that she sits on and her little head is going back in fourth . Kiki also loves ice in her water bowl too and she loves to just crunch them. When she wants her tummy rubbed she will climb on your chest and roll on her back. She loves to be held and rocked like a baby. If she thinks I'm going any where she will try to climb in my purse and whine so that I feel sorry for her, she will sound so pitiful. She looooooves to sleep on the kitchen table . Oh yeah She loves to bring her toys into my bedroom to play with . Her favorite thing is when I pick her toys up and put them in her basket she will go behind me and one by one in bring them right back out. Then look at me as to say I won!! |
I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING WITH HARLEY STANDING ON MY CHEST STARING AT ME TO GO OUT. (ADDED BY ALOT OF KISSES) IF HE WANTS TO PLAY AND WE TRY TO IGNORE HIM HE WILL HAVE NONE OF IT, HE BARKS, GROWLS AND TRIES TO PLACE THE TOY IN YOUR HAND TO PLAY. WHEN ANYONE TAKES OUR PUG OUTSIDE OR FEEDS HER HE BARKS CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL SHE IS OUTSIDE. EVERYTIME MY SON OR HUSBAND COMES INTO THE ROOM HE MAKES NOISES AT THEM LIKE HE IS TRYING TO TALK TO THEM. WHEN I AM ON THE COMPUTER AT NIGHT AND HE WANTS TO GO TO BED, HE WILL CLIMB ON THE BACK OF THE CHAIR, STRETCH HIS HEAD OVER AND REST IT ON MY SHOULDER, HE USUALLY FALLS ASLEEP. HE ALSO KNOWS WHEN WE ARE GETTING READY TO LEAVE AND HE CANNOT GO WITH US, HE WATCHES ME DO MY HAIR, DRESS, AND PUT MY SHOES ON, HE AVOOIDS THE BATHROOM AND GOES AND HIDES BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE WILL BE LEFT IN THE BATHROOM WHEN WE LEAVE PROUD MOMMY OF HARLEY:aimeeyork |
Oh yea, i forgot about this one. When there is a crazy or annoying person in the store, she won't come out and greet them. Sometimes she will actually hide and not move so they won't hear her collar so they can't play with her. :D |
Mokie Mischief Belle is really smart when it comes to her toys. If I take one out of her toy box to repair (nothing around Belle goes without some injury) She runs and sits beside where I sew and waits for me to finish. Then proceeds to take the toy and find the threads I put in and removes them. She use to have a big box of stuffed animals but is down to about three. I think she is trying to remove the squeekers and she also loves stuffing. Belle is potty trained on pee pads as we live in Minnesota and it gets to cold for her or heaven forbid rains. She has 2 pads, one for peeing on and the other for pooping. She also has to make sure I see what she did as she gets a potty treat. If I ignore her she drags the pad out to show me. Really nice when company is there. Now she has noticed that I put her little piles in the toilet so as soon as she is done she runs and stands up and stretches so she can see in the potty and waits for me to flush then barks and runs in circles so proud. Just glad her 90 pound lab brother goes outside. My husband teases that Belle is the only dog that goes for a walk in the afternoon and then has to go home so she can go potty in the house! |

At our old house, once we got home, she would pee downstairs, then run upstairs to go poop! Loved your stories, thanks for sharing!!! |

Tinkerbell barks. Alot. Recently, in an effort to curb this behavior, I started talking to her to find out what she wants. I'll ask "Do you want to go out?" She speeds off to the front door. If no, she cocks her head. I ask "do you want a treat?" She runs into the kitchen and sits near the treat jar. Etc. It's actually working! She barks at thunder, lightning, and airplanes, and the wake off the boat and the kayak. All the toys and beds are hers. She will occasionally go around the house and collect them all and bring them into the living room. Peek a Boo runs and hides if I say a four letter word, or something that sounds like one. He won't come unless you say "here Kitty kitty" or 'treat'. He likes to sleep on or in plastic bags (almost gave him to Good Will). |
Well let me see , Ill have to narrow it down to 3. Kisses and cuddles keep coming all day long EXCEPT when Im going to work, shes walks to her bed I bend to her and say "give mummy a kiss" and she will turn her head away! Little madame lol If she catches me looking out the window she will tap my legs , yes tap not claw ,to be picked up so she can watch the world go by. I'm sure shes a cat in disguise ,and she would sit on the window sill all day if I'd let her. The quirk I love the best though is when I go to throw her ball and she spins in circles at the excitement of it, Oh how easily pleased they are lol |
Strange Behavior Quirks I am so glad I found this discussion! Mr. Fuzzy has flung every stuffed animal until all of the stuffing is gone. And now he drags these "lifeless" animals around the house like a proud hunter. He doesn't just eat his treat, he plays with it. He will toss it up in the air, growl at it then run away from it. If I take the treat and place it near him, he will jump over my hand and run in the opposite direction. He has also "buried" the treat on/under my sheets! Which leads me to his next quirk - He "buries" things in plain sight! He will place whatever he wants to bury on the floor, chair, our beds then nudges imaginary dirt over it:confused: He licks the water off of our feet and legs when we get out of the shower. And the number one quirk (and please help me out if anyone has encountered this one) he will place his neck over my mouth and just lay there. If I try to talk he'll lick me then place his neck back. If I place my neck over his back, he will then fuss until he puts his neck on my mouth. Is he trying to show he's Alpha dog? Should I stop him from doing this? I think it's pretty funny! |
Skeeter is STILL a finger sucker. I can get him to drop a treat if I hold up my finger. I swear it hypnotizes him! Adie likes to lay on my side when I am laying on the couch but sometimes she likes to cuddle up to my neck. When SHE decides it is time to switch spots she will stand and just stare at the spot. I have to either move my hand so she can get down in front of me or move further back on the couch so she can lean up against the back. She doesn't make a sound and never takes her eyes off of "the spot"And of course she is obsessed with one ball and one ball only. Oh yes, Skeeter thinks there is another yorkie living under our TV. We have smoked glass cabinet and he will catch his reflection every now and then so he knows he saw a dog a minute ago! He will go over there and crane his little neck this way and that trying to find the other! |
Awwww Uni (: This sure made me smile while I'm missing my Tyler! Give me a bit to think of Tyler's quirks ;) I'm multi-tasking atm~! |
