Help!! We came from the vet and he told me my baby has coccidia and tapeworms. i heard that they get tapeworm from fleas. After hearing that of course paranoia sets in with the quickness. She's been scratching since i found out. i think sometimes i get paranoid and soon as i hear somethng like that i get itchy and what not. so i put her upon a black table and combed out her hair with a fine tooth comb and saw nothing fall off her her coat. Am i just paranoid once again. Of course i will be treating her and my home just in case but I just need somee kind of reassurance |
Coccidiosis is a particular problem in neonatal puppies overstressed by filth, crowding, chilling and poor sanitation. An outbreak of coccidial diarrhea can occur in association with roundworm infestation or the trauma of shipping. Puppies acquire the infection from contaminated premises or from their mother if she is a carrier. When kennel sanitation is poor, puppies reinfect themselves from their own feces. Puppies with severe diarrhea may need to be hospitalized for fluid replacement. I do hope your puppy doesn't have to be hospitalized. Make sure she is getting a lot of fluids. Keep us posted on her progress. |
try to comb her out on a white towel or give her a bath and look for a deep red color from the flea dirt if thear is non then the fleas are not dangerous YET please treat your home and pets this week. my poor guy just had to have a transfusion because i put it off a week until payday and in that one week they went from almost nothing to so bad we had to leave so our home could be treated and bombed i still feel horrible and that happened in about 9 days |
