Help!My lil guy comes home in 4 days! 1 Attachment(s) I've been searching all over and these xpens/play yard gates seems to be so expensive! Why?! I'm was just wondering if anyone on YT was selling one or just don't need it anymore and would love to pass it down to a NEW mommy. :) My little guy comes home in 4 days! Yay! I would appreciate any hand-me-downs for my lil guy! cloths,toys,accesories,etc.... Thanks in advance........ |
What a cutie pie he is! I want to hold on to mine, with the hope that one day I can get another. I do know that a good place to look is e-bay ... you can get a lot of good deals there. Good luck with your new babe - love him to pieces! |
When I got my first yorkie, I used a baby playpen. It worked great. I could put pee pads at one end and his food and water at the other. Plus there was room for his toys and a blanket or pillow. Of course one day he figured out how to jump out of it. By then I had a large crate and that is what I used for him. Theresa |
Congrats... Petco is having a sole on Dickens clothing its .99 cents they had alot of xxs and xs stuff for boys, also check your local craigslist for an ex pen.. check under xpen or play yard and even playpen.. I got mine at a yardsale for 5 dollars and its in mint condition.... |
I get 99% of Jackson's stuff on eBay, check it out! :) |
We got ours at Petsmart during a Petperks sale and paid about $80 or $90 for it. I decdided that I'd pay the extra because I wanted to see the pen myself and make sure it's what we wanted. It is a Midwest coated xpen with a door and I love it. It is the 3 foot tall one so Sophie can't jump out and the cat's don't try to jump in. I would definitely try ebay or amazon.com because you might find one much cheaper than they have at the pet superstores. |
Yeah, you should check out eBay - I have found a ton of great deals for Fancy on there. They have just about whatever your heart could possibly desire! :D |
Wow! Thanks everyone for such a fast response! I've been on for hours looking on ebay and craigslist! lol I like the idea of the playpen while he is still a pup! Actually my breeder have them in a playpen also! But a lil confused! I left a crate w/ the breeder so she can start to crate train him before he gets home but I don't think a crate would fit in a playpen. I could take him out but then put him in the playpen where his potty pad is to go potty??? Or just let him sleep without a crate in the playpen with his bed, toys, potty pad and food? (of course food, toys, and bed on one end and potty pad on another end.) |
Have a look at "BestPetWareHouse's" eBay store. Several member's have posted about liking their Exercise Pen Soft Crates so I ordered one too. $50 and comes in various sizes and colors... How can you beat that? I haven't used it yet (see my sig) but maybe someone else will speak up on the subject. |
I got my play yard at Wal-Mart. I almost bought one from the petstore, but I read reviews on it first and someone posted that the one for toddlers was the exact same product and much cheaper (just had a picture of a baby on the box instead of a dog). And you can buy a two panel extension for about $20.00. When you add that to the 6 panel you get a big play-yard or you can make 2 smaller ones. I love the smaller ones for the puppies. The name brand is North States. :aimeeyork |
I think a playpen would be good, you could get a net to put over top of it. When I had baby pot belly pigs, we would keep them in the playpen with their bedding on one side and food on the other. They had lots of room and those things are about 3-4 lbs each and I would have about 5 of them in one pen. |
I have the baby play-yard from wal-mart also. I like it because you can take the panels apart and use them as gates in large door openings. Thats what I do with mine while i'm at work. I don't want to put my babies in a crate all day,but I don't want them to be all over the house(they are climbers and they could fall and get hurt). I pen them in the dining room during the day which works well for us. They run about $70 for a six panel yard. |

Congrats on your baby!! I learned from experience not to put the crate in the pen. It takes up space and they quickly learn to climb on it and try to jump out, not to mention chew it to pieces. I used the crate at first to train him until I knew for sure he wouldn't use his pen and then I got rid of the crate after a couple weeks and just used the pen for crate training. He loves his area with all his stuff. I wish it had a door though because when he wants to get in he has to scratch it so I can put him inside. |
In my opinion (it may have worked for some people but not me), putting food and potty pads in the pen isn't good. He will probably tear the potty pad to pieces and if he eats and drinks too much while hes in there he will be pooping and peeing a lot too. You just have to make sure to take him to the potty pad when you think he has to go. The older he gets the longer he will be able to hold it. I'm sure others will let you know what worked for them and you'll learn somethings on your own, good luck! |
I got Apple's xpen from BestPetsWarehouse and it, along w/her car seat, are the best two purchases I've made for her...The xpen was about 59.99 and worth every penny...the car seat was about the same, and I love it, but it's not a real strong construction...She only weighs 4 1/2 lbs., so she'll probably never "wear it down"...Congrats on your new babe.... |
