I live about 50 miles South of Atlanta and the weather has been terrible. We have had some scary storms! I'm ready for some sunshine but I hear its going to be like this again all week.

Thank-you so much, Kimberly, for the well wishes. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get to work today. Even the interstate was closed. But I made it and all is well at home. The basement flooded Monday so I didn't go into work. BUT, I see the sun out the glass door and maybe we'll get to dry out.

Ditto from me !!! The first post didn't convey the seriousness of this rain....

Oh man - you're getting way more than rain there....I had caught the news before I left for work but thought it was going to be some flooding.....like what we get here all the time but it's way worse.

This is horrible and bless those poor people who lost their lives. You all please stay safe !

As a Georgian living in the midst of one of the counties hit hard,(Carroll), I just want to say that a little levity during a stressful situation doesn't make me think someone is making lite of things. What I thought when someone said what their weather was, was wish I was there! :) Most people on this site are very thoughtful and caring. No offense taken here.

I can tell you this. I would NEVER make light of a situation like that. I had NO idea how bad it was and IF the original post conveyed it, then we all missed it. Things like that do happen. What is important is that we all now know what is going on. Yes, a few of us are clowns, but it is not "making fun" of anything...it is our humor. That's all.

Anyone on here who really knows me, knows what I went through during the past year after being hit by Hurricane Ike. I am not going to post about that because it is all over now and it is not the topic. I am merely making a point that I do understand disasters.

As for someone to continue to say how awful we were, I am sorry you feel the way you do. Hopefully, you will think about it and see that there was no ill intent. You said you were perhaps cranky...I don't know. I just know we are not evil people here.

Not one of us had ill intent. Things happen that are often misinterpreted.

I do hope that everyone is ok...that really is an awful situation in GA. What is particularly sad is that I will bet that many of those people do not have flood insurance. I have seen this happen before in areas that are not flood prone....and insurance companies do not cover flood damage.

OMG!!! What a nightmare. The schools here are closed because of "rain!!" (Buses cannot get through). Three people have died, several sink holes and fallen trees, power outages, lots of damaged homes and vehicles!!!Prince and I are fine, but nervous.

Anyway, you are right about the flood insurance. I don't think any of the people who had damages had flood insurance. None! In certain areas, houses are beyond repair, some have nothing left but the foundation. They had several insurance reps on the local news stating that without flood ins., there's nothing they can do. There are a lot of devastated people here.

Final update...

Damages are estimated to be more than 250 million dollars. The governor has asked President Obama for assistance.
This has really brought a lot of people together...neighbors helping neighbors. My subdivision was not affected at all, so some of my neighbors and I are taking our wet / dry vacs, Lysol and gloves to an area that has a lot of older (70+) residents to see if we can help.

You and jmdt really had good points. I didn't know that was your first post. I now remember I came in during the middle of the thread answering a question.

I think most people came in at the middle.....that is something that I should not do. Better to go and read the first one before responding.

I would never want to minimize something like that. Very sad what is happening there.
