I hope everybody remains safe. It seems like a lot of people are experiencing some nasty weather. I also hope the weather is more pleasant in the future for everybody dealing with the snow and flooding. |

Oh man - you're getting way more than rain there....I had caught the news before I left for work but thought it was going to be some flooding.....like what we get here all the time but it's way worse. This is horrible and bless those poor people who lost their lives. You all please stay safe ! |
I too so often read the first post and then answer so I do think it was an easy mistake to make. Our prayers are with you all. |
As a Georgian living in the midst of one of the counties hit hard,(Carroll), I just want to say that a little levity during a stressful situation doesn't make me think someone is making lite of things. What I thought when someone said what their weather was, was wish I was there! :) Most people on this site are very thoughtful and caring. No offense taken here. |
I can tell you this. I would NEVER make light of a situation like that. I had NO idea how bad it was and IF the original post conveyed it, then we all missed it. Things like that do happen. What is important is that we all now know what is going on. Yes, a few of us are clowns, but it is not "making fun" of anything...it is our humor. That's all. Anyone on here who really knows me, knows what I went through during the past year after being hit by Hurricane Ike. I am not going to post about that because it is all over now and it is not the topic. I am merely making a point that I do understand disasters. As for someone to continue to say how awful we were, I am sorry you feel the way you do. Hopefully, you will think about it and see that there was no ill intent. You said you were perhaps cranky...I don't know. I just know we are not evil people here. Not one of us had ill intent. Things happen that are often misinterpreted. I do hope that everyone is ok...that really is an awful situation in GA. What is particularly sad is that I will bet that many of those people do not have flood insurance. I have seen this happen before in areas that are not flood prone....and insurance companies do not cover flood damage. |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OMG!!! What a nightmare. The schools here are closed because of "rain!!" (Buses cannot get through). Three people have died, several sink holes and fallen trees, power outages, lots of damaged homes and vehicles!!!Prince and I are fine, but nervous. Anyway, you are right about the flood insurance. I don't think any of the people who had damages had flood insurance. None! In certain areas, houses are beyond repair, some have nothing left but the foundation. They had several insurance reps on the local news stating that without flood ins., there's nothing they can do. There are a lot of devastated people here. |
Final update... Damages are estimated to be more than 250 million dollars. The governor has asked President Obama for assistance. This has really brought a lot of people together...neighbors helping neighbors. My subdivision was not affected at all, so some of my neighbors and I are taking our wet / dry vacs, Lysol and gloves to an area that has a lot of older (70+) residents to see if we can help. |

I think most people came in at the middle.....that is something that I should not do. Better to go and read the first one before responding. I will be sure to do that in the future .. I would never want to minimize something like that. Very sad what is happening there. |
You guys are getting all the rain we have had here for almost 2 weeks. But our drought prevented flooding. Please be safe and I am sending all of you hugs from Tx. LISSETTE... |
Everyone please be careful tonight. I will be sending alot of prayers for the families in Georgia, and surrounding areas. May God watch over you all. :hands::hands::hands::hands: I am sending a special angel for you. |
Goodness.... I know what you mean....rain, rain, rain! Last year or 2 not enough and now this.... I am greatful for the sunshine we got today! |
I didn't mean to offend anyone with my post. But if you read this thread from the begining maybe you can see where I was coming from. I know everyone here is great I've been here almost 1 year and all I do is sing your praises. I was a little surprised by the jokeing that's all. You guys have helped so many people get through alot of painful situations and have helped so many people with their yorkie issues..me included. I really love it here. I am so glad to hear it was all just a misunderstanding. When I saw that roller coaster on the news with the water half way up the tall slopes boy o boy very scary. Bless all those who are going through this tonight. (((((hugs to all))))) |
Hope it dries out a bit tonight! We're thinking of all of you in the flood area. Please be safe! Maybe we should start a thread so we can check up on all our YT members that are in the area. Just want to make sure everyone is safe! |
It's a little past midnight and I'm off to bed but first I wanted to tell you I am praying for everyone in harms way. I saw NBC national news with all the terrible pictures but they said there may be an ending to the rain soon. |
More rain today:eek: Oh no, you poor people. Atlanta News, Sports, Atlanta Weather, Business News| ajc.com |
little snow, rain and cold weather in colorado but 70s buy the weekend. My heart going out to the people in Georgia. :rain::rain: |
Just checking in to see how everyone that is effected by this is doing. Still praying all is ok where you are. |
How is everyone in our neighboring state? We got some rain last night, all night long, in Florida. (but nothing like what you all have) Prayers for people in Georgia and surrounding areas. :hands: |
This storm has brought out the best of everyone! People are reaching out to each other, and it's great. The clean-up will take a long time...some people have lost everything and don't have flood insurance. There are funds set up for the famiies of the 10 people who have lost their lives. Just announced...there may be monetary help for the people without insurance! Everything will be fine, with time. Thank you, everyone, for your heart-felt concern. After showing this thread to my husband, he now understands why I talk about my friends on yorkietalk so much. |
