Lump found on Joey!!! Joey loves to have his belly rubbed. Tonight I found a lump at the end of his ribs. That space (hole) at the end where the ribs meet. ^ ^ ribs ^ . lump - (but in the middle) Near diaphragm. Is this normal? I don't remember this with Buddy! |
if my furbuts are lying on their back, and i run my finger gentle down the middle off their chest tothe bottom there is a lump. were the ribs meet at the bottom i cant really explain it to well lol. x i hope we are talking about the same area :) then yes it is normal, but only if we are talking in the same area |
I layed Fancy on her back to see if I could feel the same thing your feeling but I don't. I hope its nothing. Maybe somebody else will know what you are talking about. |
is it a sof lump or is it boney? |
How old is he? That's where his belly button would be, if he had one. It may be a hernia ... or it may be nothing. When's his next vet visit? |
Sounds like an umbilicle hernia, if it is soft and squishy. Most of the time it's harmless. |
If it's hard and bony (although in a pup/young dog it may feel more squishy...like cartilage) and at the end of the sternum in the belly, then its probably just the xiphoid process. Humans have one too, although unless you're suffering from malnutrition, it's difficult to see, and can only feel if you push hard. (careful not to push hard when in this area...it can break off and puncture organs/lungs) |
I believe that it is the xyphoid process. people have it too. it's at the end of the sternum, and it feels kinda like a little lump on my yorkies...I hope the best for you, and I hope it's not a hernia! |
