Petition to take pets with you in evacuation Please guys......sign this petition to allow pets to go with their families in evacuation circumstances. This way, next time we have any disaster, our beloved pets can go with us instead of being left alone to die by horrible means. At least read this petition and YOU Decide! Thanks, everyone! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/256230705     |
I signed it. Thank you very much for posting that. :):) |
It's great that you posted this petition - people should definitely be able to take their pets with them. For the Rita evacuation, at least some of the people were allowed to take their pets on the buses, and here in Austin, we had pet friendly shelters. For those people who were at shelters and couldn't take their pets to the shelters, the Austin city humane society, kept the pets for them. I heard that it all worked out really well, so it can be done with minimal problems, if the powers that be will just listen. |

Thanks for this important info. I really hope they get enough signatures on this petition. I can't imagine something so terrible as having to leave my little one behind. They are one signature closer. |
Thanks! What a great post! I signed it!!!! I'll pass it on to friends too! |
I don't see Rowdy's mom's location but see the others are all from CA. I am in hurricane territory. It is common knowledge here that our evacation shelters will not accept pets. Ours are all public schools. If we ever evacate, and it's been close, I will NOT go to a public shelter ever. (I could mention that my pets are not the sole reason for this decision either) There are plenty of pet friendly hotels to stay in. I don't know if pets will ever be accepted in public shelters because of the potential problems and law suits that could evolve. Suppose someone's dog bit a child? Suppose someone brought their beloved pit bull who just happened to love people but hated small pets? Would you be comfortable? Or if you had allergies? The list could go on and on, but as long as it's city property, I don't see any city being willing to open themselves up to the possible threats. A better solution would be seperate facilities, but I'm not sure who would agree to handle the financial responsibility there either. As a pet lover, it's hard to realize that at least in our area, I don't see this ever happening........ |
You are such a wonderful person to post this on YT. We can make such an impact to this petition. Thank you! I have entered my information including a very sweet (and sad looking I should add!) picture of Stomper. Thank you. God bless. |
That is a great idea!! i am so glad some good is coming from this disaster!! |
I signed, thanks for finding and sharing this link!! |
If you are going to live in Hurricane Alley, then FEMA should have separate places for pets while a hurricane is going on. They have plenty of money to do that. Hopefully, with this petition, it will open a few eyes and see what needs to be done. Austin did it. Hooray for Austin! At least one city got it together. |
Many thanks to all of you that signed this petition. Hopefully, something good will come out of it. |
