I've purchased a few things, but wasn't sure how to modify them. I've very curious to see how it's done too. Pictures please????? |
I was at Target tonight and saw the cutest girly outfits! So, I started thinking about how to modify them. I might have to go back and get some summer wear! Ha! My question was based on size, unsure what size to buy. I am still saving for my puppy and wanted to get started on making clothes etc to pass the time! :p I thought I could figure out how to use my husband sewing machine! |
Yes, I would love to see pictures for ideas. |
Me, too! I'd like to see pictures! I see cute things at yard sales sometimes that are just like new. Would be fun to modify some for our pups. |
You can also buy things at the store "Build a Bear" they have some really cute things but you would have to modify it...and the stuff is pretty cheap too!! cheaper than most of Peanuts shirts! |
4 Attachment(s) ALL the time. I would say that about a third of my babies' wardrobe are from baby clothes! So far, the easiest alterations have been with shirts, sweatshirts, dresses, etc. I have no problems with completely tearing it apart and doing with it what I want! Here are a couple of pictures I found on my computer. I have a TON of clothes though that are made out of baby clothes. For some reason, I found more for Molly than Max but I have just as many for him as I do for her. :p Little Ginger is not really big enough for any clothes (especially baby clothes) so most of her outfits (she only has a couple besides a jacket, dress or two) are made out of socks right now. |
I've made a couple for Rily out of NB baby onesies. I used one of his XS shirt as a guide. First, I cut/removed the binding from around the bottom of the onesies. I then cut the top just a little bit longer than the shirt I was going by. I cut the back down so that the sleeves would turn down and the front of the onesies with the pretty design would be on Rily's back. I then sewed the back up and cut/curved it slightly higher on his belly to allow for pottying. I then cut away the snaps and reused the binding around the bottom of the shirt. I'll try to post pictures later tonight. |
This was suggested to do this by a petstore seller but never tried it but I think I just might have a browse around some of the charity shops this weekend. Thanks for the idea as my two could really do with some jumpers for winter. |
