shot reaction Ok I need yalls opinions and stuff please. Callie went to the vet around 4:30pm yesterday for shots she got three shots Dap, Lepto, and Lyme as well as the Bordetella in her nose. Well late last night she had diarrhea and it was bad enough where we had to clean her little hiney which we havent had to do sense she was a puppy (shes 2 now). Well today she has only really wanted to sleep, she walked around her yard some and had not eatin anything until a little while ago when I had to sit down and hand feed her and give her water by hand too. Well her right shoulder where they gave her Dap is swollen and sore to the touch. And she is walking like what we call an old women ( no offense to any older ladys) barley lifting her legs off the ground and moving very slowly. She also is cold and shaking so I put her in a comfy hoddy. Has this happened to anyone else's baby's after getting shots? My mom and grandma both suggest we wait and see how she is doing in the morning before calling the vet unless she gets worse, What do yall think? |

Please in the future you really need to space out vaccinations on your little on and I would do more research on Lepto and Lyme...lots on info on YT about this. Poor baby. |

Your baby has been overvaccinated :( For Couver, I only let them give one vaccination per visit. The vet always tries to give him more, but I refuse, and tell them to schedule me for another time... at least a week later. Even with one vaccination, he is sore for the rest of the day. I could not imagine several shots at once! :thumbdown:thumbdown Next time, I would suggest to space out her vaccinations so that she does not feel so bad. |
I would aleast call the vet and tell them what you are seeing. If it is truely a reaction they should be made aware of it sooner rather than later. Our vet here usaully will not charge for any other treatment related to the vaccination reaction and they cover all costs. If they are aware of it and for some reason you may need to take her to the emergancy vet later in the night they will assume it is a reaction and not something else. I would just let them know and see what they say. |

YT has a ton of information on it and you might want to do a search on vaccinations as I know a ton as been posted. |
vets are in it for the money sorry to say but it is really true we need to do are own research not just do what a vet tells us to do and is ok to do. if your baby gets sick that is more money you will give them to get her better their are no consequences for them if your baby dies they dont get in trouble or care. vets are in it for money be careful. hope your baby gets better soon. |
WOW.....That vet never should have done that.....Vaccines are supposed to be done one at a time, including rabies....Each one is supposed to be spaced apart by 4 weeks....When multiple vaccines are done it's like a person being hit by 4 different viruses all at once, that is way too much for the immune system to handle, along with the preservatives in the vaccines..... When more than one vaccine is given the first vaccine will block the others from even working......Most people don't give the kennel cough vaccine, this is a very mild condition if the dog where to contract it. It's equivalent to us getting a cold. Lepto is another vaccine most people do not do, Lyme is questionable also. I'm shocked by this, apparently this vet is lacking in knowledge about administering vaccines and the complications that can occur..... This is a schedule that is very helpful to use as a starting point if your in need help: Vaccination Schedule Recommendations For Dogs Here are a couple of sites to browse through to help understand vaccines....:) Vaccinating Dogs: What Your Vet Hasn't Told You Puppy Shots Revaccination Canine Vaccines and Vaccination | Dog Vaccination Schedule I hope your little one is better soon and I would keep an eye on him.... |
Please call your vet and report the adverse reactions. Yes I agree with the others your dog was definitely over-vaccinated. Some good links were posted--thank you for posting. |
Lethargy and inappetence or common side effects of lepto. Too many were given in one day and the vet was very wrong, but what's done is done. In my opinion, if the vet gives the vaccines, the vet is responsible for after care. If you are worried, does your vet have an after hours number? Are her gums pink? You could give Benadryl. |
Thanks for all the info everyone. Right now she is seeming to be better actually running and playing as well as drinking and eating like a little piggy on her own. Her right shoulder is still swollen and hurts a little when touched so I do plan on calling the vet in the am if there is still swelling and such. But shes getting extra spoiled (if thats even possible) right now and I do not plan on ever letting them give her that many shots at one time. |
