my yorkie ears is it every to late to get your puppy ear to stand up? she is 6mo and her ear don't stand up |
Hi. I don't think that at 6 months old it is to late for the ears to stand. You should shave them down from the tip to the head (to get the weight off) and then tape them up for 3 - 5 days. Hopefully this helps:) |
I was so worried about Motley's ears for a long time. I think he was 7 or 8 months before they stood up. I was so excited, now he's 14months old and he has one ear up one ear down and it's the cutest thing ever. Sometimes their "flaws" are what makes them even more adorable. |
what do I tape them with? |

Thank you, your puppy is so cute .:aimeeyork I can't see if they are taped together in the back. what kind of tape? |
Thank you:) I used masking tape. They are not taped together. You only do that if they flop foward even after being taped. If that happens, put a strip of tape across the top of the head connecting each ear so that they stand. You'll actually want to use 2 peices of tape, one in the front of the ears and one in the back. It's extra reinforcement and it covers up the sticky side of the tape. I'll see if I can dig up another picture with the ears taped together. Some people call this kind of taping a bridge. |
it does not hurt when you take off the tape?:animal36 |
1 Attachment(s) If you are careful, it will not hurt. I use a squirt bottle with warm water and get the tape really wet. Then I use rounded tip scissors and cut the tape and then slowly take it off, rewetting as needed to get it to come off easier. If goo from the tape is on the ears, you can use alcohol to clean it off. The picture I found with tape connecting the ears is not a good one, but it is all I have. Her hair kind of hides the tape. |
