Hotels and puppy I need some advise! We are going on vacation and will be staying one night at Marriott Hotel in Charlotte, NC on our way. They allow pets but charge $100, non-refundable!! I think this is absolutely ridiculous, especially for a 3.3 lb yorkie!! We are thinking about just not mentioning her and bringing her in her carrier. What do you think!!?? |
We've done it, some hotels charge more for the pet than for you and it's non refundable. We just carry her in her carry bag and she's quiet. I put a sweater over the vents so she can't be seen. I sneak her out for a walk and put pee pads down on the bathroom floor. I keep her off the bed we don't use so there is no pet hair on it for the next person. |

Yep, I would not pay $100 for a yorkie to stay in a hotel. She might as well get her own room for that price!! I would just bring her in a bag, and make sure she gets plenty of potty breaks. If you ever have to leave her, I would leave the tv on for some noise and put up the 'do not disturb' sign. I have done this before, and had no problems! It all depends on how quiet they can be :p I just usually don't leave Couver in the hote... I just take him with me everywhere. |
We don't leave ours in a hotel either I stay with her while hubby does a food run or we take her with us. |
That is a high price. Most hotels are a little more reasonable. We were going to take Toby on a trip one time and were told it would be $150 non-refundable.I asked why so much and was told the staff would have to steam clean the carpet and drapes after we left in case the next person staying in the room was allergic to dogs.I called BS on that one and cancelled my reservation.I'd just sneak him in if you're only staying one night.;) |
They don't even wash the bedspreads between clients much less steam clean the room. BS is right. Also they usually have certain rooms for pets just like smoking and non smoking rooms and a sign at the desk saying they are pet friendly incase someone has a problem with it. |

It's hard to believe that hotels that charge so much don't realize that nearly everyone is going to operate on the "don't ask; don't tell" policy. One thing I found funny is that the recent toy dog show in Orlando was held at the Mariott where they don't even normally allow dogs at all I don't believe. |

It was so cheap for Ellie to stay with us there. It may have been free. |
i'm taking morgan with me to a resort in lancaster PA. There is a $100 refundable deposit and i have to pay $25 a night for her. not too bad. |
I've taken Addie to the Omni before, and they charged $100. I paid the cost just because I didn't want to have to go through the trouble of sneaking her in. Plus, I didn't want to have to worry about someone catching me while I was taking her potty. Addie is a cute little girl, like all our babies are, and, in my opinion, they're memorable. Also, if she barked or anything like that (which she hardly ever does) and someone complained, the hotel would know there was supposed to be a pup there. Overall, it was just less stress for me. Is it possible for you to just go to a hotel that charges less? Some hotels don't charge at all. Some will do it where all or most of the deposit is refundable. Four star or higher hotels just tend to charge more for everything. |
I would find another, pet-friendly, hotel to stay in for the one night. Some hotels let dogs stay free, or maybe for an extra $10 a night. If your dog barks and another guest complains, they have your credit card number and will charge you the $100. |
I would probably just sneak her in. That is a ridiculous charge. The Lacassa Inn has a $15 charge for pets. I do not know anything about them, but here is their website: Lacasa |
