I know what you mean......I have to two yorkies one has it and the other doesn't. I can't seem to make it go away either. I bathe her every week also. Maybe there is a special shampoo for tears. I am sure someone has an answer for us! |
Try working in some baking soda and then brush. Some Yorkies do have this bad odor around the face and I'm not sure if it's coming from some type of gland, tear ducts or ears, but no one I know with this Yorkie problem has found the "cure". |
its just so nasty im like is the smell coming from there eyes nose i dont know this bothers me because if people rub his face the smell gets on their hands and its nasty smelling... i touch cobys eyes and i got the same smell i dont know at this point where its coming from |
oh god smelly yorkie in the ears do smell too... its got too be the sweat glands |
My boy has the same odor too.I think it's the drainage seeping into the hair around the face. BUT when i wash it with a dab of shampoo and rinse well it goes away for about 2 days and back again. As for the poop and spinning in circles, YEP, Dud does that too, it's not a fast or speedy spin he just keeps turning like he going to find the bigger, better blade of grass, then it done and he bolts away from it...Funny:D |
I hope YT's don't start yelling at me but I had this exact same problem with my Maltese mix and I mean it was BAD. I searched and searched for an answer and finally found a Vet to explain to me it was yeast! Yuck! No wonder it stinks! So now I use "Angel Eyes" and do not have the problem any more. Completely gone is the odor. Yes, I know it has an antibiotic in it but I can now baby my baby and that makes us both happy. |

Thanks!;) |
I use Sterile Eye Wash Solution (for Humans) and a cotton ball. Apply it to the affected area generously to soften any goopy eye discharge. Then I comb with wide toothed comb to remove the debris, then narrow toothed comb, then a flea comb. Apply the eyewash as needed to keep goopy stuff soft, and comb down to the skin gently so no hair is pulled out, but goop is removed. Do a final application of eye wash and flea comb. A breeder once told me this occurs due to an infection in the eye and to apply Antibiotic eye ointment (eye ointment ONLY) Terramycin or triple ab, keep the area clean, using the eye wash. Check the eyes and area around the eyes daily to avoid the stench. Dog's ears should never smell bad. This can be a sign of infection in the ear and should be checked by a vet, as medications may be necessary to clear it up. Their skin should never smell bad, and fur should be fluffy, not oily or gooey. Sticky or goopy feeling skin is not normal and should be diagnosed by a vet, as medications are available to treat any number of skin issues. |
Oops! double post! |
You could try cleaning his eyes and then put some baby powder under his eyes where it gets goopy. Could he have an ear infection- when we first got Ryder he had one (his ears were floppy and they had hair in them). It could be a yeast build up and that is very smelly- use a Qtip and clean his ears if it is dark he most likely has an infection, take him to your vet and they will show you how to remove the hairs and run a test to find out exactly if it is yeast and help you to treat it. Good luck and hope this was helpful. |
