Puppy tearing up puppy pad? Hi guys!! I'm sure there are threads about this and if you know where they are please direct me. Otherwise, I'm pregnant and miserable so give me a break for not looking!! LOL!! My sister just got a yorkie pup and he's tearing up his pee pads badly ): She got him a holder like I use for my Tyler, the simple solutions one but he's still getting to them. Any suggestions? |

Lol, are we the only two up? Joey started tearing up his pads, and I switched to washables, and have never looked back. Some people suggest taping them down, they seem to go through a period of wanting to rip them up, but outgrow it. |
I prefer this pad holder. I switched to washables. Either one fits in this one. |
Bayleigh Anne is 5 1/2 months and she just started tearing them up a few weeks ago. In fact, she loves all paper. Paper towels, toilet paper, letters, bills, etc! lol I got the holder, didnt help, she still pulled em up. Funny thing, she doesnt do it consistently every time. She just gets a crazy streak and does it every few days. So, I have ordered the washable pads from Ryan (RDB911). Good luck! |
LOL @ Nancy (: This child (in my tummy) makes it so hard for me to sleep! Two more months!!!! I think she's going to try getting the other pad holder, which I had shown her earlier... and in fact I want that one too! Tyler doesn't tear his up I just think it looks nicer (: |
Now she says that he's ripping them from the inside and doesn't think that holder will help... and she doesn't want to use washable ): Any other thoughts? |
How about one of those potty patch ones that look like grass. I use washable cause my girls tear them up everytime. |
I feel your pain! (well, not your pregnancy pain :p) I put Maddie in her pen and left her in there for about 6 hours while I was at work, that was the longest that I left her. I came back and found potty pad EVERYWHERE! I wish I would have taken a picture of Maddie looking up at me covered in potty pad. I mean, COVERED. I didn't know a potty pad could be ripped up so badly. She only tears them up if she is in her pen. I have one in the living room that she doesn't touch. Is the pup only tearing them up when she is alone? If that is the case I just wouldn't have one for her when she is by herself if you are only going to be out a few hours. Maddie NEVER has one when she is alone in her pen now. If I have to be out for more than 6 hours I find someone to come let her out or I come back to let her go. She won't potty in her pen. Good luck! |
This is so funny, but as I am reading this my Padme is going to town on her pee pad!! I am going to try the washable... |
Cosmo was doing this too but he is still a puppy. The pad holder with the snap on rim worked for us but if ANY of the edges are not totally under the snap-on rim he will rip them up. I have on order the potty patch it's not that bad in price as I paid almost $25 for the pee pad holder at Petsmart. Also other doggie grasses run into the hundreds. I haven't received it yet so I will let you all know what happens..lol I got this too as I work all day and Izzy is so tiny she can't hold it most days until I get home and I'm tired of buying pee pads. https://www.ontvdirect.com/pottypatc...efcode=otw1p_g |
my 1 year old sonny still has a field day on them, every time i leave him.. i have to hoover up all the stuff inside them is everywhere  |

You can buy used pads (washable) from valethics. they are great |
I tried disposable with Sophie when I first got her. Yep, she chewed them. We went to outside training with her. Then Ivan came and he was pee pad trained. I got the disposables again...Sophie chewed one to bits. The stuff was stuck up her nose holes and everything! It was a mess, but comical all in the same breath. I switched to washables and never looked back. I get a four pack of around 24" x 24" or maybe a bit larger for around $18-$20. I prefer the larger ones...Ivan rarely goes "off pad" when i use the larger ones. Sophie doesn't bother to even try and chew these. they are pretty thick and sturdy. |
