Fleas while on Frontline on top of a bad haircut I posted a few days ago about Harley getting a bad haircut at the groomers on Saturday....on top of that I just saw a flea on his head. Any suggestions for fleas? He is on frontline and I am quite upset that he has fleas. It was time for a new dose so I went ahead and gave it to him. I don't know if he got fleas from the groomer or not but this is the first one I've seen. Any suggestions? |
I would definitely say not to use that groomer any more. Also, you could call the groomer and let them know what you found. I don't know what the regulations are for groomers, but this is one main reason why I prefer to do the grooming myself. They may say that he picked it up somewhere else, but IMO, I think I would call them and tell them. |

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. All Summer long I have not seen one flea on either Brody or Rhianna. I took Brody to get groomed one last time late August and a day or two later I saw a flea on him . . now, I can't guarantee he got it from the groomer, but I washed him and Rhianna with Dawn immediately after that, cleaned my entire house, washed their toys, their beds, etc . . .all was fine until today . . .again, a flea on Brody . . .I am literally freaking out wondering if he picked it up outside or what . .. again, both in a Dawn bath . . .beds, toys, go around like a crazy mad woman cleaning . . .ugh . . . I just applied my first dose of Frontline Plus to them . . .(I am not particularly fond of using chems on them) but I just don't want to have any more fleas . . .I'm almost positive we have none in the house . . .none of us have gotten bitten . . .and we don't have any rugs . . .so right now, I've banned outdoor potty just for a test to see if anymore fleas turn up . . . |
Gracie has had fleas for about a month now, we have scrub, cleaned and bathed her dawn till i just about used a whole bottle on the poor thing, I see 1 but never anymore than that. I think were getting close to another application of frontline which i hate because she runs around like she having a seizure or something. Fleas have been so bad that I cant wait for the first frost. :aimeeyorkGracie and :)Kellie |

Which Is The Best Flea & Tick Preventative? - The Fun Times Guide to Dogs Comparing Frontline Plus vs K9 Advantix vs Advantage Here is Advantix's website :D |
I'm sure Harley probably got fleas at the groomers. :thumbdown Fleas can get resistant to certain products in your area. I used Frontline for years, but had a terrible problem with fleas a few years ago. I switched to Advantage and haven't had a problem since. |

Jackson got like six ticks on Frontline. Since beginning K9 Advantix, ZERO fleas or ticks. |

Fipronil is neurotoxic in both rats and dogs. Severe skin reactions to Frontline Topspot for Cats and Topspot for Dogs have occurred, with skin irritation and hair loss at the site of application. Organs affected by chronic exposure may include the liver, thyroid and kidney. Reproductive toxicity occurred at the higher doses tested, with clinical signs including reduced fertility, decreased litter size, decreased body weights in litters, and fetus mortality. There is no evidence of fipronil causing birth defects, but it may cause a delay in development at high doses (NPTN 1997). |
