really??? I was checking nextdaypets.com for siberian huskies and when I went to put in siberian husky in the search bar the list of S's came up and in that list was a saint berdoodle.... really??? When I clicked on it to see what that would look like and there was no listing for it. All I can say is wow.. people really are putting any two dogs together to create the "perferct" desinger breed. Also on that list was a shepdoodle, english boodle, and a boxerdoodle.... |
I find this whole mixed breeding of Pedigree dogs plain nut's! When two dog's got together by error in years gone by creating mutts (oh how I hate that word) that was one thing, however, to do it intentionally is only about making $ thus creating only a mixed breed that most don't want anyhow. There are enough homeless mixes in the pounds, what are people thinking? |
The "doodles" are extremely popular lately, for allergy sufferers. I don't think it's terrible to be mixing the Doodles, as it IS nice to be able to enjoy the temperament's of a Golden Retriever with the non-shedding hair of a poodle but the problem with this is that not all of the puppies are going to come out non-shedding and people are mis-led often times, which leads to a person becoming allergic to their new "hypoallergenic" puppy and getting put into a shelter or pound. I think there are a few responsible breeders out there breeding doodle mixes but there are also a LOT of crooks (just as w/ any breed) in it just for money. I don't like how they're charging an arm and a leg for these mutts. |

Our neighbor owns 2 Golden Doodles and they are beautiful dogs and very intellegent. They bought a female 2 years ago and went to the same breeder and got another female this past summer. They have different parents but look almost identical. I guess there are certain standards for these designer breeds and you just don't breed any Golden Retreaver to any Poodle. The DH has allergies and he isn't allergic to these dogs. |
You know I believe there is little thought going into 99% of the cases, just what happens to live next door:( |
Theyll mix anything with a poodle these days |

I agree with you 100 percent. I dont mind the mixed breeds, It just blows my mind how people are just willing to throw 2 dogs together and charge a ton of money. I have a yorkie/poodle mix. He wasnt an oops litter. The woman who I got him from is friends of ours (well my hubby) and after he was born, I tried to encourge her to fix the parents. She didnt and they went on to breed again and she was charging $500 dollars for the puppies. They were not worth that much money, they were cute, healthy, friendly, and well socialized but they are a mixed breed and anyone looking for small dog could of looked in our local newspaper or craigslist and bought a purebred for that much money or even less!! She couldnt sell them. She eventually came down in price sold one and kept the other.. another female.. who is almost ready to come into heat.. to this day the parents havent been fixed and they call the one female thier "little money maker" Like any breeding that is done, if its done right and for the occasional litter I dont mind, buts its the people that breed litter after litter just for the money that aggrivates me. Tucker is a great little dog, the perfect combation of both breeds and I wouldnt hesitate to get another mixed breed but I would definitly look into getting one from a shelter first and I certainly wouldnt pay a ton of money for one. (hmmm, ive come along way since last year.. :D, thanks to YT I have learned more about breeding/recuses/shelters etc.. and I have a total different opioion about it. Last year I would of fought tooth and nail about how "right" designer dogs were) |
