Yorkie's Ears I have a 19 week old yorkie and both of her ears have been standing for about 5 weeks. Suddenly, one of them has decided to flop again. Is this normal and what can I do? |
I think this can happen during teething. Is she teething? |
I am not sure. At what age do they teeth? |
about 4-5 months, but some are later than others teething. My yorkie was teething 5-10 months. |
Pixel started teething when I got him, around 20 weeks old, so it would make sense she may be teething. :D |
Do you think her ear will stand back up on its own?:animal-pa |
Most of the time the ears will go back up. I don't think that you have anything to worry about. |
Congratulations to Pixel!! He's very cute.:) |
Could also be that the hair on her little ears grew a bit and weighing it down. Maybe you could trim it a little with scissors. I know that my Pebby's ears stand up but when her hair gets a little longer one of the drop. I also have heard this about the teething. Good luck |
This site may help you. Scroll down to the section where it talks about teething and ears. :D Alex's Yorkie Care Frequently Asked Questions. Page 2. Awww thanks deanib! :) He is not a full yorkie though. He's a yorkie-chi mix. |
Thanks everyone!! Yorkie's are confusing. We have 2 toy poodles and this is our 1st yorkie, so I have a lot to learn. |
I recomand to use the gray thing from toiletpaperrolls, cut it like the ear is shaped, put it in the ear and tape it to the ear, then the ear has some support (but only use tape that is made to be attached to fur, the one that doesnt take all the hairs off) :) I did that with mine. Yorkie ears dont go up after 5 months, so i recomand to do this as early as you can :) The dog does not hurt himself of this. |
Will the ear not go up after 5 months even if they have already been standing? |
Pixel's ears went down during teething and I actually LIKE the floppy look, so I was sort of disappointed when they popped back up :D BUT like I said, he isn't a purebred yorkie - he is part chi, so don't know if he applies. |
Also, is normal to have dew claws on the front and back feet? |
