Do Yorkie's like to swim? I know. Totally new owner question. I'm headed to my parents house this weekend and I'm gonna bring my little buddy Franky. Just curious if it's okay if I put him in the pool, or is he gonna freak out!? Thanks! Jeff |
My vet is a close friend of the family and he lives about 2 mins from my house. I took Jada over this summer(he has a salt water pool). He has two yorkies and his wife talked me into putting Jada in the pool. It was hilarious. She looked like a little rat swimming around in that big pool. She did great. I wouldn't say she loved it but she really did good swimming. I never had the chance to take her again, but I hope to next summer. :) |
Fido doesnt know how to swim :P I sometimes go up to a water here not far away from my house, he just walks a litle into the water but when the water is in the neck hight he just runs to me again, i think he just can't swim. |
Mine dont like it if they cant touch the bottom |
Sam likes it if he is wearin his vest, he knows he can just float and not have to worry about doing any work:rolleyes: |
We didnt realize Pasquale like the water til we took him to the beach and he followed my husband in the water. Now i have a little lifevest for him so if he goes in and starts to get tired...he wont sink. |
Jackson LOVES to swim. He will voluntarily jump into the 6 foot pool at my dad's house if we are in it. He prefers to float on the rafts though! ;) He looks soooo funny swimming away in the pool. Usually if you throw in a ball he really likes, he will jump it after it. |
Fiona jumped into my parents pool at 4 months, and she didn't really get the point of swimming, she hates getting baths, but over at my boyfriends pool she jumped right in, and she swam like a champ! Just keep a close on on your little one! :) |
I have 2 that love the water and will go into the pool by themselves. Needless to say, I have to keep a gate up at the steps. Then Captain Jack hates the water. Odd isn't it, he's named after a pirate, but he hates the water. |
If you look at my avatar my babies are in a blow up boat in our pool. My daughter pulls them around. Coco and Pebbles can swim. We even have a little race. But Trix can't swim she just sinks. I think it's the tail that throws her off :p I don't make them swim too long because they are only little and they get tired. They go in for a little dip then they get pulled around. They love it. |
One of my yorkies does. He actually shows off if strangers are watching him! My other yorkie just likes to get his feet wet, but will swim without freaking out if you put him in the water. |
Ok, I know this is silly, but Moses only has 3 legs, so we wonder, if we put him in the water, will he swim in circles!!?? I was hoping to get down to the lake this summer and see what he'd do, but just never did make; we've had weird summer weather. My other 2 always liked to swim, they have life vests also. |
Maddie loves our pool. We have a sun shelf that is only 6" deep so she will jump in on that and then swim out to one of my girls. Or she will jump off the side or off the ledge of the hot tub onto one of the floats. She really prefers to be on someone on a float. She will jump in and try to "save" one of my daughters if the jump in off the side or go under the water. It just freaks her out and she has to rescue them! We think it is so funny when we have her swim to one another or to the sun shelf and you hold her above the water and she starts to "swim" before she's even in the water. Also, the whole time she is swimming her little tongue is going in and out. |
CoCoa B. loves to swim in our pool with us! |
Hot Rod will swim if he has to. Maggie is a fish in disquise. We were on a small inlet one day and we had them off leash, well, Maggie was just heading in the water all by herself! I do keep their life vest on them whenever they go in the water, they get tired pretty easily and quickly. |
