How big can my yorkie get? I just got a puppy he's now 3 months old and he's 5.8 pounds! he's very playful and loves to ruun everywhere! he's a stud! but im wondering when do they usually stop growing? ooh another question i went to check up today n the vet told me he had only 1 testicle. Do you think it'll drop soon? what if it doesnt :S? I hope he doesnt grow too much or i wont be able to carry him! lol |
General rule of thumb...double that 12 week weight so he's likely to weigh 12 pounds when grown. Do you mean he has one retained testicle or one missing entirely? The retained one needs to be removed when he's neutered. There's a health risk if it's left. |
Congratulations on being the proud owner of a Teapot. Teapot is a loving term used on YT for the larger Yorkies. I own one. My guess for your boy would be around 11-12lbs when he's done growing. Buddy is 16lbs and gained 1lb a month until he reached 1yr old and then stopped. Picked up a couple more over the years and now at 5 1/2 he's 16lbs. I would double his weight at three months and add a 1lb to be safe. The larger Yorkies are pretty healthy which is a plus. Good luck with him and welcome to the both of you here on YT. |
Huge lol more to love:D |

KIDDING !!! They are going to be as big as what is in their genes...and I don't mean denuim :D My un-expert guess is they do grow for up to 2 years - some stay the same size without really getting bigger after about 1 year old - but some will mature out at their life weight around 2....My Chanel did. |
Looks Like you will need a stroller! |
Nolee quit going around 12 months or so, if this may help? |

Wow 5.8 lbs! Is he a purebred Yorkie, or a Silky? For 3 mths (12 weeks) he's pretty big and still a growing boy, and the two breeds look so much alike but the Silky is the larger of the two and would weigh about that much at 12 weeks. In the future you'll carry him with much love I'm sure. He'll keep your arms toned from lifting. ;) |

Jackson is a hardy 12.5 lbs. I've seen larger on YT. :) I love and prefer his size. Larger size in Yorkies can come from a variety of things really. "Bad" breeding if you want to call it that but the original old Yorkie Terrier used to weigh between 11-15 lbs or so, so sometimes they have it in their genes somewhere from their ancestors! :) |
Jemma is 9 months and just a little over 4 pounds. I wish she were bigger. Less worries. |
