Can't get any sleep at night Brandi won't let me sleep at night. All night long it's up and down all night long on the bed. The problem is she jumps off the bed and then she does this wacko mole thing until I wake up to put her back on the bed. She likes to sleep in two different places in my bedroom. My bed and her bed on the floor next to my bed. She's like a little jumping bean. I have try ignoring it but she just won't stop until I pick her up. She does this at least two to three times a night. The sad part is she is quite capable of jumping up on the bed. What do I do? I don't want to crate her because I already crate her when I am work so I refuse to crate her at night. To me that would be just too cruel. Besides, she's does not potty at night. She's pretty good about holding it. I thought about locking her out of my room, as much as I want my baby with me at night this looks like the only good option. I am not sure how she would take it as she is stuck to me like velcro. Wherever I go she goes and it has been this way since I've had her. I know that the few times I did put her in her crate I slept like a baby. |
Would she be more inclined to get up herself if there were a little set of stairs for her to jump onto? We used a small suitcase for ours to use as a springboard onto the bed. Or maybe putting her bed on the foot of your bed? That way her two special places sort of become one in the same. |
Those are good suggestions, I thought about getting her some stairs. In fact i think I will. She is getting older and I do worry about her jumping off the bed. |
i like the puppy steps idea, we do that for the couch because even tho Sadie can jump on and off of it, it does save her little knees some agony if she uses the steps more often than jumping |

My Bailey was doing the same thing, I only recently started taking him out of his pen at night letting him sleep with me but, he was constantly wanting to get up and down! and I was terrified he would jump off and hurt himself! Yesterday I put a ramp by the bed and Bailey was still constantly getting off and on the bed, but used the ramp to do so, He didn't whine for me to pick him up, or put him down..so it's great, so much safer too:) |
Be strong. You need to tell her to STAY and with repitition she will stay where you tell her to. I don't know how old she is but nether less she needs to learn night time is for sleeping , for your sanity and hers |
Try getting a ramp or stairs for her to your bed :) I have an older girl too, and when it is dark in the room it may be harder for her to see where to jump to get back on the bed. |

When Bailey was a puppy - I also, refused to put Bailey in a crate at night because she was in an expen all day. So, for Bailey's first year, I put her bed (a converted ottoman surrounded by small throw pillows) and placed it near my bed. Baileys bed - along with some additional square footage- was baby gated off from the rest of the room - it was Bailey's room! Complete with a small fabric-covered step stool and yorkie-sized pictures hanging on the wall. Its soooo cute! :) When Bailey was 12-16 mos old - she started sleeping with us. We had to teach her some bed manners - such as wait for the alarm before smothering us with morning kisses, etc. All is well now!!! Good luck! |
