Sore Paws Help! I noticed after our walk yesterday that my little Lexus has a red spot on each of her paws (on the same pad on each front paw). I noticed her licking her feet, at first just thinking she was cleaning them, but then she didn't stop! Do you think a 30 minute daily walk could give her sore pads? I take my other yorkie too, and her paws are fine. what should I do to help her paws heal now? Is it okay for her to continue licking them - will they heal on their own? Should I put an antiboitic creme on the sore spots and put baby socks on her? Is there a creme I can get at the pet store to sooth her worn paw? Any suggestions, would greatly be appreciated!! |
There's a chance that she burned her pads walking on hot cement. When it's really hot out I let Buddy walk on the grass instead of the cement or black top because it can burn the pads. I would put alittle vasoline on each paw rubbing it in gently. If she licks it won't hurt her. I do this in the winter also so his paws don't get cracked from the cold. |
Have you noticed her licking her paws before the walk? Our sidewalks get very hot here in Tampa and although Scooter has never burned his feet on them I can see how that could happen. I wouldn't use antibiotics because they can be poisonous if licked, I would put Vaseline on them. Poor little doll, hope she is doing better. |
Yes she is doing much better and it's only been 2 days. I soaked her feet in tea tree oil (natural disinfectant and anti fungal) dilluted in warm water for 10 min, then I put Bag Balm on her pads before she went to bed. One foot is completely healed the other almost healed. I also did the same thing to my other yorkie to ensure in case it was an infection I got them both covered! thanks for the help! |
