Baxter 1 Attachment(s) I have my new puppy and he is so fun. But I am a little confused. Everyone that see him, said what breed is he. When I say a yorkie they ask if I saw the parents. I did but I hate to show his cute picture. He is getting long legged and his hair is not growing much. I have attached a picture. Have others had puppy's with hair this short at 8 weeks. He is 11 weeks old and has a little more tufts of hair but not a lot. |
Well, maybe his hair is just growing a little slow. I am sure it will start growing soon. |
Baxter Thank you for the encourgement. I get worried when anyone that works with yorkies or has one takes one look and says are you sure he is a yorkie. |
Yorkies come in all looks, shapes, sizes & colors! Yes, there is a standard to go by but if you are happy with your little guy and don't care about that - it shouldn't matter! I'm sure he will be a great pet. Honestly, he doesn't have as much hair as most Yorkies at 8 weeks and he looks possibly Chihuahua mix but who knows! Baxter He is a sweet and I love him but I paid too much money to have a mix breed and then I do not like Chihuahua's. I hate that people tell me that he is not a yorkie. |

Hey, I would like to post on here and just say that I am the breeder. Everyone feel free to look in my albums and see the parents, they are obviously NOT chihuahuas! I have no other dogs (well, a black lab and he is fixed so there was no mistake there!) so I am positive of who the sire and dam are. Yes, the rest of the litter has more hair than Baxter and I am predicting that all the girls will have silk coats. In comparing him to the girls, I think he will have more of a dry cotton coat like what we had talked about (like his mother, Molly who is a red leg). Molly's coat grows incredibly slow and she only needs to be groomed about every 3 months or so (which is great on grooming costs). Connie, I know that you expressed much concern about his coat but please be patient with it. You know what Max and Molly look like so its not like he will grow up to look like a chihuahua and nothing like his parents. He does have big ears right now, which he will grow into someday. :) |
It's obvious that he does not have the 'standard' look... my guess is that he will be a red legged yorkie, like his momma :) |

I looked at your beautiful Yorkies in your photo album, Robin Lodal. After looking at Baxter's parents in Robin Lodal photo album, I can easily tell that Baxter is a Yorkie. He looks like his mother, so he probably will be a Red-Legged Yorkie like his mother. Red-Legged Yorkies have a wiry coat that does not grow very long. Enjoy your Yorkie and do not let other people's opinions bother you. Educate people about Red-Legged Yorkies and always mention positive qualities that your Yorkie possesses when people ask questions about Baxter being a purebred Yorkie. :) http://www.yorkiesllc.com/yorkieinfo...dcoloring.html |
Awww such a cutie pie!!!! :D If you look at my album, my Pixel is a "chorkie" (chihuahua/yorkie mix). I don't think your baby looks like him. Yours is a full yorkie I'm sure! Don't worry about what others say. Hell, many people assume Pixel is a GIRL!!! LOL |
My Trixie looked kind of like that when she was small. I think it'd the ears that are throwing everyone off. She will grow into them She is still a baby, they change so many times while they are growing. My Pebbles and Coco were little puff balls. Trixie wasn't. They are all different. She is such a doll. Love those babies. Congratulations!!! |

Oh well if his mama is a Red Legged Yorkie, that explains it!! :) Like I said, he's such a cutie! I wouldn't care WHAT he was! lol. What a doll. Look forward to watching him grow up on YT hopefully. |

Don't worry what people say, I get things like that too, they either think she's not a yorkie or that she is a teacup :rolleyes: I just say yeah I know she has big ears for a yorkie but that just means she listens better :p Lola is done growing I think but once her hair grows longer ( she was shaved ) I think the ears won't stand out so much. One of the owners said she was a purebred w/out papers and the other owner said she thinks shes mixed with a poodle but looks more chihuahua. Her coat though is SUPER silky and soft so maybe she's just off standard. Heres a pic! |

Baxter He is fun but spoiled. I have started a bad habit. Because he is small, I wanted to make sure that he eats (wanted to feed him 4 times a day. I have started hand feeding him (bad me). I sit on the floor, he sits in my lap and he will eat. Knew the dh would not hand feed I made the carrot treats that Robin makes. He gets that at lunch. Yesterday he jumped up on the dishwasher door as dh was turned to get dishes from sink. Robin he has climbed out of the super yard pen he has, only once. Is he training us or what? I am tired of people telling me I did not get a yorkie but besides that he is great but I had forgot the puppy stage. And like someone said in another thread we have a goat. I have never ran the sweeper so much. |
Hey Connie, Yes, Baxter will go through many stages as a puppy. Please do not let other people get you down. I thought I had explained it enough but I guess I didn't. Sorry. You are more than welcome to print off a picture of Max and Molly and show them if they do not believe you! And like someone else said, these people are talking smack about your baby, so stick up for him! Hold fast to what you know is true! You know who the parents are and have met with me several times and I hope that you don't think I am misleading you. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. By the way, he is due for his next booster shot sometime within the next week, so please email me or send me a message and let me know when would be convenient for you. |

I was told when I got Gizmo that he was a pure yorkie but she did not have paperwork for him which is a whole other story. But anyways, whether or not my little guy is purebred or mixed I still love him to bits and couldn't imagine not having him with me! He looks similar to your little guy when he was younger. I have posted pics of him when he was about 8 weeks old from the breeder and a couple of him now. He will be 1 in November! I tell everyone that he is a Chorkie mix!:) |
I Baxter is a DOLL!!jjust tell them- he is a rarer type of yorkie- u have just probably seen one like him and his mother before!!:p He looks yorkie to me- I see yorkie- not chi!! Banjo is a chorkie His M om was a 6# LH Fawn Chi- his Dad A 4# yorkie! He looks just like his dad!!!Except he weighs almost 20 #:D:D:D I guess some of those recessive genes just pop up anywhere!!!:D But he is my cute big butt boy- and I love him- and I think he is just perfect! He is HEALTHY, HAPPY, LOVING, AND JUST A SWEET, SWEET BOY!! tHE BREEDER CHARGED ME LESS THAN i WOULD OF PAID AT A SHELTER-WE STILL KEEP IN TOUCH EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. hE MIGHT HAVE ENDED UP BIGGER THAN i EXPECTED- BUT I LOVE HIM MORE THAN I EVER KNEW I WOULD! A yoirkie breeder i met once- said I see no chi - in him- he looks and acts just like a yorkie- he is just biggger! Baxter is just perfect-and -if he turned green with purple spots- you would still love him, because he is your little Baxter! and that makes him special!! Enjoy him- he will give his family lots of love!! |
