Puppyfind safe? Hi! I have been reading posts about finding puppies all around the US, and I decided to take some of the advice and check out puppyfind.com...well, I've found an amazing puppy that I have to have (if she is still available). I was just wondering, how safe is puppyfind? I barely have enough money to invest in another yorkie, and I would be insanely depressed if I spent said scraped together money on a scammer. Any info is appreciated. Thanks! -LeAnn |
I've never bought a puppy from puppyfind.com, but I'd be sure to check on the breeder well before buying ;) |
i got austin there and im very happy but i talked to ther breeder alot if you dont feel right when you talk to the breeder go with your gut make sure she answers all your questions |
What I was really interested in were the poor, homeless puppies listed. They were very cheap, and needed someone to love them...I just wasn't sure if people put 'puppy needs saving' up as a scam. |
I bought my mother-in-law a female chocolate lab and I found the breeder on www.puppyfind.com I had a friend who lived close to the breeder check her and her pups out. Everything worked out smoothly. |
pups Be careful of any breeder you can not visit..ask to speak to the breeders vet for a reference. I see some of these "homeless" pups for $500 and it include shipping...then it is from SA..what gives??? I think it is a scam. |
My mother found her breeder on puppyfind.com.....We were fooled by the breeder, we even went to her home and spent time with her.....and BAM!! She got whammied. She purchased one pup that had a hernia that had to be operated on, bought two more pups and was supposed to have the first one replaced...ended up buying 3 pups and after a year, no papers!! This breeder has used every excuse, has ripped people off by takin their money and then not giving them a pet (used excuse after excuse as to why there were no puppies)...several people filed complaints and some have gotten some money back.. I've rambled...but my point is be careful,be careful, becareful. Not every breeder is out to take your money just....be careful!! |
anyone know some good breeders from puppyfind? |
Well, I have to say that after one evening of this site I am done with it. I have attempted to contact 3 of the breeders on there, 2 gave fake e-mail/phone numbers, and the third seems to be contacting me just fine, but I just found out is in Mali...so that's a big no no, as I'm guessing she is a scammer. ::sigh:: Oh well, hopefully I'll find a little girl soon...wish I wasn't so poor so I didn't have to worry about finding a good deal. Disability checks only go so far unfortunately. -LeAnn |
I think it is a good place to find a puppy but be very careful. I've bought puppies from there and everything went well. I think the vet reference idea is a good one!! |
I bought one of mine after seeing her on Puppyfind and it owrked out great. She was expensive and out of state but I spent a lot of time communicating by phone and email and I talked to her vet who raved about her. She actually turned me down at first because I had kids but when I told her they were teenagers she relented. I would use a "puppy escrow" service if you decide to purchase a puppy sight unseen. It is safer for everyone is a nominal cost for the peace of mind it provides. |
I found Autumn on Petfind.com, but I didn't want one so far away I couldn't go see the puppies. I like to touch what I'm buying. I want to see how friendly or reserved the puppy is. I went to their home/kennel and altho I wasn't allowed in the kennel(whelping going on) they did bring puppies and parents in the house so I could look and choose. Some breeders, like on this site, will try to fit the puppy to you and your situation if you need to have a puppy shipped but I won't buy one like that. I was talking to one of the breeders here about buying a dog sight unseen, but I would have gone to pick him up. She's a very good breeder and if after I got there I didn't like him for some reason, I know she would have made it right. Sylvia |
I used puppyfind.com last year to sell some of my pups and all worked out well. Luckily the buyers that contacted me and I sold to lived in my close area and they came to my home to meet me. I did have some weird emails from Greece and another one out of country that wanted a broker to pick up the pup, but they would send me all the money up front. I said No! I do not sell to brokers and must meet the buyers before I agree to sell my babies. I want to make sure they get a great home. And I feel that anyone sending a broker to pick up a pup - doesn't really care that much for the puppy. So no way! Just screen the sellers. If they are rep. they won't mind giving you their vets name or references. You can also check with AKC list if their still able to register with them or not. We have a link somewhere in YT to check if they are not rep. breeders. Best of Luck! T. |
I got my boston from a breeder on hoobly.com, and everything worked out great. I guess its all in the vibe you get, usually your insticts will let you know if your getting scammed. I think if you talk on a consistent basis and the breeder is accsesible, see lots of pics, get references, contact the references, all should be ok. If they are hesitant with anything that should be a red flag, because most breeders anyswe everything to their best capabilities, are willing to show you progress of the pup via pictures, and have no problem giving you references. If they have nothing to hide they will be glad to give all teh info you need. Good luck with your search, and remember if something sounds too good to be true is usually is. |
