Biewer info wanted We are thinking of possibly getting a Biewer or two (male and female). I have done some research on them. I am just wondering what were the pros and cons of peoples opinions on "the biewer vs . reg yorkie". There is no other opinions I am interested in ie...whether they are a legitimate breed etc.. I would just like to know if their are any personality differences etc.. I would never exchange mine for a biewer only add to our babies. My fiance keeps seeing them on yorkie talk and thinks their very beautiful. Anyway my hope is not to start a back and forth disagreement as their are plenty..Just want some opinions of people who actually own and/or breed them. Also if you could send me some reputable breeder names I would appreciate that. We have not yet made a decision, but are considering and I like to be well informed and do plenty of research in whatever decisions I make. |
Hi! And welcome to the wonderful world of falling in love with Biewers! They are such pretty dogs, aren't they? I own both a Yorkie (Sophie) and through her and YT I fell in love with the Biewers. I did the same as you and did some research, contacted a person who owned one and the rest is history. Ivan became mine on August 3rd. This breed is, IMO, much calmer than the Yorkie breed. They have all the personality as a Yorkie but in a more low keyed result. I'm finding Ivan to be extremely affectionate and mild mannered. Again, this is my experience thus far, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find a Biewer owner who will have a bad thing to say, but instead only add to the good I've said thus far. Good luck in your Biewer search! |
Hi Cloudnine! Well you are doing what I did and others. I never knew about a Biewer until I became a member of YT a couple years ago and said if I ever could get one I would. Well I have Izzy my traditional Yorkie and now I have Cosmo. OMG..I love them both and they are both loving and gentle but boy my Cosmo is soooooo smart and loving it's hard to explain. He has a wonderful disposition...hardly barks except when he is supposed to and he is just well..plain cool. :D Take a look at my profile page..I have a short video of him and my Izzy doing some tricks with clicker training. You will find some awesome breeders of Biewers on YT. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide. |
I love my Biewers. They are so beautiful and loving. I also own both Yorkies and Biewers and find them very simular. I love them equally! I have a litter right now and the only difference I seen with this litter compared to my Yorkie litter was they were a bit more calmer. BUT..they are coming around haha. But to compare I do find them quite simular to my Yorkies. Quote:

I also breed Biewers and have to say you fall in love the first minute with them. I find the Biewers to be less yappy than the Yorkie and more interested in being a lap dog. My yorkie likes to play and will continuously play fetch. My biewers want to cuddle and sit in your lap. It is like apples and oranges, they are both good for your health but you might prefer one more than the other. |
Biewers are WONDERFUL! :) We have both Yorkies and Biewers and I agree that they are much more calmer. Good luck finding your new baby!! |
Biewers and Yorkies are both wonderful breeds. I have both, and can't say one bad thing about either!! My Yorkie is the quietest out of the three, lol. When the Biewers start playing, they make noise :D My female Yorkie has more 'tude, than my female Biewer, but my female Biewer does have 'tude, just not as much as my Yorkie ;) They get along great, they are well behaved, smart, inquisitive, nosy (lol), eager to please and FUNNY!!! And most of all, extremely loving and attached to their human mommy (me) Their personalities are very similar, I would just say that my Biewers are more humble than my Yorkie :D |
We have a female Yorkie and a male Biewer. They are similiar in ways but I have to agree our Bogie is a little more laid back than Jada. He loves to cuddle, but he is also very playfull. He will play ball until he can't play anymore. If you aren't paying attention to him he will bring his ball, drop it at your feet and look up at you with that beautiful face begging you to play. Jada likes to cuddle too but not as much as Bogie. I had never heard of a Biewer until about 6 mos ago, but I have to say they are one of the most beautiful dogs, and so loving too. |
I WILL have a Biewer one day! |
Good for you. There is no turning back once you meet a Biewer. |
I love your post! Perfect! I breed Biewers, I've bred Yorkies and I have Biewer "carriers" (one parent yorkie, one parent Biewer) so I see the entire range... to me, the dogs are very similar however I do like what MaryKay said.. the Biewer seems a bit more "humble".. I think that's true.. they don't stick out their chests quit as far as the yorkie.. seem to bark a bit less and do seem to cuddle alot more.. they wake up every morning with the look of adventure in their eyes and seem to ask "what new exciting things are we going to do today" I put it this way.. if a chipmunk was loose in my porch.. my yorkies would want to go for it and kill it.. my Biewers would also want to go for it.. but they'd play with it and check it out..maybe eventually it would end up the same way.. but not as quickly. The yorkies (and the carriers) seem to be on the look out.. more "aware".. quicker to respond, quicker to bark, need to get to the head of the line, where the Biewers are a bit more layed back.. take things in stride more, less "stressed". I have been at shows and in situations where we have put intact male biewers in the same pen or females together in groups as we were setting up for shows etc.. all different ages and no problems.. no issues.. nothing like you would expect. It's really nice to see a heard of Biewers running down the hallways in a hotel just having a race.. unrelated, non familiar Biewers.. all just together running.. it's just great. I'd say keep up the research but these are a very special dog.. I just can't say enough about them. Once you see one, you'll be hooked for ever, once you own one.. you'll always have one in your life. Diana :animal-pa |
We have been looking at several. There are alot of cute ones. The one named Aiden on Breny's site was super cute. Look like he found a home. |

Getting the Biewer wants here too I swear all the Biewer talk on here lately is really getting to me. I have never even seen a live Biewer, only pictures, and hearing your stories has me getting the "wants". I must stop looking, seriously. |
