a big question i need answerd ASP please Cobys body seem's very soft and little and it make me nervous i mean it's almost like when i carry him like i have a ball of fur with tiny little bones.. you feel more of the fur though.. this makes me very nervous because of his little size and even xxx size clothes fall off him,,, i have too roll them all the way up but when he starts playin they fall off him.. i know he looks to be a good size in the picture but he's not he's very tiny. most people i see say hes soo cute but they call him little mouse..:confused: is this normal for young yorkies body too feel like this ??? and when will Coby's body start too change.. right now he's a pound and a half and 9 week old also if someone might know a webiste about trimming the dog hair around Cobys ears i'll feel more at ease trying too get his ears too start too stand up.... |
I know people shave the ears with a mustache trimmer. My Lola is 10 months and about 5-6 lbs. She is REALLY boney and has little fur because she has been shaved. Vet said she is healthy weight but to me she is thin and I'd like a fatter pup. I am hoping she will fill out more as she matures. Pups are usually chubby little things, at least the ones I have saw. |
Yorkie puppies are tiny. That is one of the reasons it was recommended that you NOT get the puppy until it was at least 12 weeks old and 2 pounds. Be very careful with his tiny body -- it is just a fragile as you can imagine. You should be nervous. |

i tried too get him older but the company said either i take him now or someone else wanted him.. i mean i would have hated too miss out on him he such a doll but yes very fragile.. hey what about when he's in his crate he gets mad and hits the crate with his paws will he brake something? |
oh and when cobys sleeping his ears will both stand all the way up but when he wakes up they flop back down |

It might be a good idea to have the vet check him out once a week until he reaches twelve weeks and is eating well. I'm not an expert or even close -- it's just what I would do in your situation. Perhaps the vet could also suggest some dietary supplements for him. |

Keep Up Just keep taking him to the vet often. Make sure he does not jump or fall of anything (couch, bed, etc.). Watch when you are walking and closing doors. I do not see how he can get hurt in the crate. Just do not put much stuff inside with him...no snacks to get choked on. One or two toys should be enough (he wont be in there long anyways). Keep up with a good diet. |
You have gotten some really good advice. One of ours is really tiny too. He is never out of his kennel unless we are home. Never leave anything he could get choked on in his kennel. I watch him like a hawk when he is out with the girls and even at that I am afraid of him getting hurt. Feed really good grade of food and like someone said, take him and have him thoughly checked out. Hope everything goes well. |

He is still such a baby, yorkies are really tiny as puppies, so yes it is normal. You probably already know to take a note of how much he is eating and watch for signs of low blood sugar, but I always feel like it cannot be said enough:). Also be careful taking him places before he has had all his shots. :) |
Kimbo was a tiny little thing at that age. He weighed 19 oz and could fit in the palm of my hand. Now he's 4 months old and a stout 3 lbs. He used to be my baby mouse, but now he's a baby moose! |
He sounds normal for a yorkie pup- they are tiny boned and full of hair. With his hair on his ears- I use my hubbys trimmers and just buzz up the top corner on the front and back of the ear, it helped Ryders to stand. He should be fine in his crate just keep a blankie and something in there to keep him busy. Good luck and let us know how your vet visit goes. |
WE just got TWO baby pups to their forever homes. Little Baby Melanie is 1 lb. 7 oz. (23 Ounces) and she is tiny like Coby. Baby Amanda is larger @ 2 Lb. 12 Oz. (44 Ounces). I think my Baby Amanda is going to be a BIG girl.:) They are both nine weeks old and just precious little angels. One thing I've noticed when picking them up and holding them (I do that a LOT, LOL) is the more relaxed they are the softer they feel. When they want to keep playing and don't relax completely when I pick either of them up, I can feel their little bodies much more than when they are totally relaxed. They have Daddy wrapped around their little paws. I just LOVE these little babies. They are truly little precious angels from heaven. I coax Baby Melanie to eat more. She likes 'service' so I take some of their food and let here eat it off my fingers or hands. I can get ther to eat a little more that way. They are getting boiled chicken with rice and chicken broth along with some puppy chow. I'll bet your little Coby will be just fine but I'm like you, I worry and fret over my babies too.:p |
You've gotten a lot of good advice already. Hot Rod was 1.57 when we got him at 15/16 weeks! He felt like a bag of bones and I was so afraid that I would hurt him. Hubby had to give him is first bath as I was too afraid too. He got his first bath in the bathroom hand sink and even then hubby had to hold him so he wouldn't drown. It took forever to hit that 2 lb mark. Now he's a very solid 4 1/2 lbs. Very study and muscular. So there is hope. :) Hang in there. |
