Ramp or Stairs? Need advice please. I have been telling everyone how delicate these little yorkies are and to be very careful with our Daisy. My hubby is finally catching on and has brought up the idea of stairs by the bed. (Daisy likes to fly off the bed to check out a noise or get a toy.) I see all the heartbreaking stories about these sweet little dogs breaking their legs and it makes me very sad. Now, I am on the lookout for some stairs and need some advice. Which is better, sstairs or ramps? Should you have both? What price should I pay for them? Please share your experiences. Thank you.:) |
I have a ramp at the foot of the bed. Laya would not use steps she would try and jump over them. But the ramp she seems to like. It's been great for us. |
I would definitely go for the ramp if you have room for it. I've noticed that depending on the height of the bed sometimes the stairs have to be made too steep and then you lose all the benefits. |
We went for a ramp next to the bed. We just made it out of upolstury foam. and then we made stairs for the couch. Now that Shayna is bigger, we cut back the ramp because she can jump atleast 9". The ramp has worked very well for us and now that it's shorter and she's 10 mo I can get out of bed easier. I know there are alot of choices out there but we decided to be creative and thrify... |
we have neither and a very high bed but Tia manages it just fine and shes only a 5 lber lol |
We have 2 sets of stairs...one for the bed, and one for the bedroom window. The one for the bed has only three steps and is covered with faux fur. (Prince uses that to go from the floor, to a trunk that has a faux sheepskin pad on it (one of his beds) to our bed. The one for the window has 4 steps. That one is plastic and has no-slip pads on each step. I have nevr used a ramp for him, but the stairs are great. It took less than 30 minutes to teach him how to use them. He never jumps off of the bed. He ALWAYS uses the stairs. Good luck!! |
