Are we really nuts? I was just wondering how many of us have friends or family who think we are nuts for the way we treat our babies? My friend was over the other day and I was showing her the new winter sweaters for Mac & Mellie. She looked at me and said "you do realize they are just dogs?" (I had to explain to Mac & Mellie after she left that she just doesn't understand Yorkie people.) Now my husband will ask me do I really think they are going to answer me when I have conversations with them. Of course they do! I have caught him talking to them when he thinks no one is looking ;) . So I was wondering am I alone or are there other Yorkie owners in need of help according to their friends? |
no ur not alone ... PPL JUST DONT UNDERSTAND!!! lmao |
I'm that way too!! But I just tell them if they had one they'd be the EXACT same way  |
my friend owns 2 boxers and while she is at work she leaves them in crates. She makes fun of me because Luna has a puppy-sitter, well i am sorry i prefer to have a well socialized dog then one who is so hyper from being crated all day that they dont want to sit and be nice. |
My family thinks I am crazy because I buy cllothes and bows for my yorkies. I dont care. They dont know what they are missing out on. |
My family and friends all think I'm out of control and crazy. My new nickname has become "The crazy Yorkie Lady". It's so hard not to get so into Yorkie's once you have one! They become your life and they're just so darn cute :p! |
Your soooo not alone. They all think i'm nuts too. Plus I make clothes for puppies so they think I'm doubley nuts. LOL :):) But most are nice. I just wonder sometimes what they say behind my back. :):) Maybe its best I don't know. LOL |
Yep...mine pretty much think I have LOST it but in reality...I have FOUND it!! Only you all would appreciate that though. I try hard not to be be too "out there" when friends and family are around though. I have much more freedon on here to express myself. |
I take it all as a big compliment! My vet told some people that he wants to come back as a yorkie in his next life and have me as an owner b/c of the way I treat Simon and Hallie ;) I take my dogs to daycare, use my family vacation for them, gave up half of my living room for their condo and would give up anything for them. If anyone ever said to me "they are just dogs" I would kick them out of my apartment and tell them to never come back! ;) My mom totally understands and is a little "crazy" herself, she sends Simon and Hallie emails all the time and talks to them on the phone! My dad on the other hand thinks I'm out of my mind but I'm ok with that! My friends may think I'm crazy but I'm always the first person they ask to puppy-sit so I must not be that crazy ;) |
I LOOOVVVEE my Coco to death she is spoiled but even I have to admit that I have read some posts on here that make me question some posters sanity. LOL! |
I am the same way.....My family swears I need to find a Teddy Annonymous support group. I just can't help it! I am happy that this forum is here or I think they would have me convinced I was over the edge. |
My family thinks I'm insane when it comes to my dogs. They don't understand the need for allllllll the clothes.... but doggies need to look good too! ;) |
Shhhhhhhhhh My four legged family have no idea their dogs. All three of them are so spoiled, and VERY happy. They know what a dog is, there's one next door in the back yard all day (poor thing, put's my daughter in tears). I'll just keep them thinking they are my kids! And with all their stuff around here, you would think they are. I just wish they would learn how to put toys in the toy box. They sure know how to get them out!!! Do friends think I'm nuts? Yea,because I treat them all like kids, only they have four legs! But guess where they send their four legged family when they go out of town. :D So if I'm a nut, at least I'm a happy nut! With lot's of friends! |
There are some ppl that make me wanna think ive lost the plot, well i tell them it doesnt hurt to be insane :D yesterday i bought them a real baby stroller and took them for a walk, next thing this person tells me "i saw you walking with Chelsey and Chanel in a stroller" i told him "yes i have to keep ya'll talking about something" and guess WHAT, today we saw a lady walking in our street with her maltese in a stroller... 99% of the time i get nice comments, most of them find the way these girls get dressed and treated is very cute, some of them have asked if they could be my dog lol |
We aren't nuts! Are we?? :p My dh and I are always getting strange looks because of the way we talk about Keeley. My grandma was just visiting and she was teasing us about his outfits the whole time. The part of it that sucks is that a few certian people think that after 3 1/2 years of marriage we should be having a "real" baby then pretending out dog is one. They really don't unsderstand, even if I had a trillion "real" babies Keeley would be spoiled and treated the same. I love all the dog things and absolutly LOVE LOVE LOVE having a yorkie in my life! |
People think I'm nuts all the time! I even raised my hand when I read the this thread! Just this weekend my brother in law came over and seen me trying on Gus's harness that Joy made. I also had Gus's suitcase with all of his clothing in it next to me and all he said was,,,,,,,, Poor Tim! (Tim is my husband) |
People think I am crazy for dressing Pita even when it's not cold outside, I get flack for bringing her everywhere, having a stroller for her, putting her pictures on my checks and having a carpenter build special stairs so she can get on my bed...etc, GUESS WHAT!?! I don't care! She has made all the difference in my life, I got her just as my girls were moving out and she fills a void in me that nothing else could, if I didn't have her I think I could have possibly turned to alcohol or something... Anyway... my daughter sums it up the best I think: "Yorkie people are weird but cool at the same time." |
Yep.. they all think I'm crazy. I see them rolling their eyes everytime I show them something new I bought for Desi. They think its a "phase" I'm going through since my youngest has graduated from college - empty nest symdrome. |
Better sign me up for being nuts because my Yorkie is one of the most precious gifts in my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. He is like a child to me as far as I am concerned. I catch a lot of slack for buying him expensive gifts that most people wouldn't buy for themselves. My husband and myself are both fortunate that our families are so great about treating Capone like he is one of the family as well. I think if we thought of our little ones as just another animal, than YT would be nonexistent. I think it is so great to see owners so proud and passionate about their babies when reading through the various threads. We definitely share a special bond in the love of the breed regardless of what walk of life we are from. |
Maybe we're not crazy or nuts but a super breed of people who will take over the world with our Yorkies. THEN who will be laughing? Yeah, obviously, I'm crazy too. |
My friends don't think that I am nut about my Yorkies , they think I am extremely nut . |
Just this morning, my hubby was sitting in his easy chair with Rowdy in his lap. I said to my husband, "Have you eaten anything yet?" (he doesn't answer) I say again louder, "Have you eaten anything yet?" (still no answer and I am standing right beside him). I look him in the eye and say quite loudly, "Have you eaten anything yet?" He looks up at me and nonchalantely says, "Oh, I thought you wer talking to Rowdy." See, he's just as nuts as me!!! :D |
I was so happy to find YT because I don't feel alone anymore! My husband and girls think I am nuts! But with ya'll I feel right at home! I love buying Baili bows and clothes! :) |
If you haven't owned a yorkie, then you just don't understand!!!! :p |
