Question about Registration My yorkie is 9 mo old and I am about to send in his papers for registraion. When I looked at them from the breeder the sire and Dam are regisered with UABR. Can he still be registered akc if his paents aren't AKC? I don't want to send 30.00 fr nothing. Loving my Harley Baby:aimeeyork |

registration There is a possibility that your baby can be registered with the AKC IF the parents were AkC registerable - eligible for registration but just weren't. Do you have a pedigree for your Yorkie? PM me if you want some more info about AKC's registry research program. |
The Breeder said that she checked with AKC and her Dam and Sire were AKC registerable and that they sent her the papers that she sent to me. But it doesn't indicate that she registered them through AKC Harley's Mama:aimeeyork |
The UABR has nothing to do with the AKC. So, the papers you have are not from the AKC if they say UABR on them. It may be best to register your dog with the UABR and get your dog's pedigree from the UABR, which you can then send to the AKC to find out if your dog is registerable. |
Here is a link to some info from the AKC - look uner the question about ' my dog is registered with another registry' http://www.akc.org/contact/answer_center/faq_dogreg.cfm |
Thanks for the help, I will check this out. The form that the breeder sent me was filled out with her dog;s info and only needs my signature, The form is from AKC but in the place on the form where she listed her dogs registration names and it asks for Registry she entered UABR. I guess I can email her and ask her if her dogs are AKC registerable. I am almost certain that she told me they were but she is no longer breeding them so she probably was not going to bother with AKC. Thanks for your help. Christy;) Mommie of sweet Harley:aimeeyork |

Can you scan the form and post it? It sounds to me like the form you have is the AKC's registry research application. If you can't scan it, what does the form say exactly? $30 is what the AKC charges for the research, so I'm thinking what you have is the form to apply for registration - the breeder may have already had the AKC conduct the research. |

Curious when I bought my Scamp I asked for the registration papers and they said they would mail them to me which they did but they were aca which is what the parents were registered. afte looking at other sites they sais basically that aca is not really recognized so I did not bother sending them in. I have no plans on breeding him and I already had him nuetered. He is just a our family dog so is there any real reason why I need to register him if we have no plans to breed him?? |

However, since AKC is the register of choice, one registers to support the registry, whether or not you plan to breed a dog.... |
