he won't bark
 
I've only had riley for a couple of days and he won't bark...my mom got him to bark but only cause she was teasing him...but i rang the doorbell to see if he would bark...nothing....he just looked at the door

my uncle came over yesterday...and was trying to call to him...he just played with his toys...totally ignored him...weird...guess he won't be a watchdog...whatever...i still love him

Give him time and believe me, he'll bark. Bailey didn't bark for the first two weeks and he was 9 months old when we got him. I was beginning to think something was wrong with him but now he's made up for lost time.

Enjoy the quiet, and don't encourage him lol...I got Apple @ 11 1/2 weeks old, and she didn't bark for about a month, and then it was a tiny little growly bark...very cute :p I think, like babies, they have to find their voice...She didn't start barking at the door-bell, 'till she was about 7 or 8 months old, now she barks at a doorbell sound on the t.v.!! I sure would worry about it....I feel blessed, that Apple isn't an incessant barker...I don't think I could handle it...

ENJOY it! lol. But, I guarantee it won't last, and you'll be wishing he stayed quiet. Jackson never barked either for the first few weeks.
He's still not an overly obsessive barker, thank God, so maybe you'll have a quiet Yorkie!

You didn't say how old your baby is. My Daisy Mae didn't bark for months and we brought her home at 14 wks....but now oh brother, now I am trying to train her to stop when she doesn't need to be barking!

Funny story.... I had Daisy for about a month and took her on her first road trip at Thanksgiving time. I told my Brother...."She's the best puppy...she doesn't bark!" Now my Husband and Brother tease me whenever she goes into her crazy non-stop barking. lol

Your baby is fine!

haha. Tobie does that too! I always say, "Tobie, it's on tv!" like he understands me or something...:p

my Lola barks at pretty much everything and anything! lol Enjoy the non barking. She barks at me to go outside, when she plays, at people who walk by, at the door, at any little sound she hears :rolleyes: But she is very vocal, she whines at me alot too. lol

You didn't say how old he is, so assuming you have a young pup. If so, that's why you aren't hearing any barking. He hasn't really learned how yet. Enjoy the peace while you've got it. If he's a normal yorkie, he will be a wonderful watchdog. Just has to grow up yet & learn the ways of the world. He preoccupied with being a baby & doing baby things. It's odd how we get pups & expect them to just know all the big dog stuff. Have done the same thing at times myself. Enjoy his puppyhood while it lasts. It's over soooo quickly. Good luck! Yes, count you blessings... Shayna is more then making up for the quiet days, she's in her first heat and won't stop barking at any noise, of anything that moves. I wish she had a mute button about now...

Be grateful ....Max barked at my daughter's poster on the wall....so needless to say he barks at everything! LOL

Apple is such a cute name ! Im gana put it on my list of the names I lyk.Im trying to decide my yorkie's name before hand you see :) And Apple gave me a new idea too - Melon!

Riley is about 9 months old...at first i thought something may be wrong with him but then he barked...yeah guess should take in the quietness while I can.

Be thankful. Gracie didn't bark much at all until she was over a year old. Even now, at almost two years old, she saves her barks for important stuff.

My Sullie only barks at something that scares him, he is only 1 yr and 5 mths. I really like it that he is not a yappy dog. He does bark when someone comes to the door. They are the Best.!!!!

Consider yourself lucky! We had to train ours NOT to bark :)

it took miley a whole week to bark..she has the cutest lil bark..and a big ol attitude to go with it lol she's like mhy lil mini pit bull..heck my pit mix i have doesn't have this much tude..hehe

Kimbo found his bark when he was 3 months old. Now he loves to stand at my feet and demand me to pick him up with his very loud bark!

I rescued Molly when she was 2 years old and she didnt bark for 2 weeks...after that, all hell broke loose!! She now barks at too many things, but i try and distract her which usually works quite well. Enjoy the quiet time, im sure it wont last!! :D

Ditto: Jada was already 2 (rehome) when we got her. For about 2 weeks we didn't hear a peep out of her, and i thought she couldn't bark either...well enjoy the quiet for now, it will change..she first started this little weird noise(we call it a gremlin growl) now she barks at everything..everday noises in the house,noise on tv...you name it she will bark at it..any suggestions on how to train them not to bark at just any little noise..when she gets started he little brother bogie just has to get in the action too....but they do let us know if anyone is outside..:p
