We're bring home a rescue baby today
 

As some of you may recall I posted asking if anyone has information (pro or con) about the Scottish Terrier Group of Greater New York Rescue and I was in the process for adoption of a yorkie pup with them. I was concerned that they didn't e-mail me for 2 days after I told them that I turned in K9 Lifesavers (Barley's "rescue") for his horrible conditions, as I thought it scarred them away from me. It didn't! In fact we're leaving in an hour to go get the little munchkin from Clarksville, VA. I'm so excited! :D

I'm told she had a breeder who realized she couldn't manage the yorkies once her daughter got married and moved out, so she contacted STG and asked if they'd take them and rehome them. I know as of last week there were 2 babies and some adults still needing a home. I've offered to take photos for the foster (as she's maintaining the horses and her DH as he recovers from recent surgery...the surgery is why she didn't contact me for a few days). I'm hoping all goes well today and my faith in humanity is restored some ;) I will keep you all posted and maybe be able to post pictures of the other babies that are looking for forever homes...and of my new baby.

I know this is getting long, but I'm so excited and wanted to share with my YT family!!! I also want to say thank you to everyone who helped me research STG rescue!!! LivingDustMops you are so great!!! I appreciate all your help!

It was 3 1/2 hours each way, but sooooo worth the drive. She's the best puppy we could ever ask for. I can't get my photos to load so I'm going to have to add a new album. SORRY!!! Does anyone know how I can make them smaller?

Barley is doing fantastic with her (under our watchful eyes) and Garrett's the gentle giant as always. We've named her Bijou (pronounced like Be Jue) My daughter said it's french for butterfly. She felt it was perfect because she's so beautiful and dainty:D I love that it goes so well with Barley.

Congratulations on your new rescue baby, she is so adorable! What a little beauty.

Thank you all!!! She did wonderfully last night. We slept until 5 this morning (went to bed at 12) Pretty good I think.

As for the other puppies, the male got a home in PA before I arrived and the other female was being picked up shortly after we got Bijou. So glad we got there first and got to pick as Bijou is so friendly and out going...the other little girl was shy and reserved. They looked very different too. Bijou looked very healthy and happy the other puppy looked smaller and not as furry. So glad to know it got a loving home too.

***Other Yorkies**** (sorry, I'm long winded)

I did ask if she had Bijou's mother and others to place still and she said, "Yes, but I'm not playing show and tell. I have too much going on today and my husband's no help." (they lived on a farm & poor DH was on cruches from knee surgery) (This comment blew my mind. I felt like she reached inside my brain and B@#! slapped me)

I got the sense that she and DH may have been arguing or something before we arrived. I will say that she wasn't friendly in person at all, (only invited us into the florida room and had us in and out in 5 minutes) but over the phone she was super sweet. I was very embarrassed to have taken my 17 yoa daughter in to meet her, as I told her how sweet the lady was on the phone and then she acted like that in person. We talked about it a lot on the ride back and she was like, well lasting impression. (And she shows Westies & Scottish Terriers). Also I asked how may adults she still had to place and she said 5 or 6. I thought...5 or 6 you don't know:eek:! It was a bit odd, so we signed paper, gave her $500 and left asap. I did let the lady who did my background before approving me with STG know about that and asked that she reach out to make sure Jessica is ok. It was odd. Anyone else get situations like that from the fosters???

Those pictures with little Barley seriously melted my heart. He was so cute and patient sitting there waiting on her...just the cutest thing in the world! And how cute are their names together?? It worked out so well :D.

I can't tell you how happy I am for you and Bijou and I really look forward to watching that little cutie grow up :p.

Thank you! I told my daughter that we needed a name that went with Barley (since they are both yorkies and both rescues) and she suggested it. She was shocked that I liked it, but I think it rings well and the butterfly meaning is so sweet. I'm so happy he's doing so well with her too. But I won't let them together if no one's around until she's grown. I don't want to take a chance. Barley's come such a very long way in the 6 short months we've had him. He listens to me so well and just wants to be loved. I think it will always break my heart when I think of how badly he was treated by his past family. I'd really hurt someone over that little guy if anyone touched a hair on his head now. :rolleyes: Maybe that's why rescues are so special, you get very, very protective over them. Nah, I'd hurt them if they touched any of my doggy babies!!!!

Thank you. I love rescues so much and hope to be a foster when I retire, but now is not the right time with all the love and attention they need. So for now I'll rescue when I can.

Thank you!!! I found one on line program I tried, but it's not going well. We just got this mac and it takes some figuring out, but I love it. DH isn't convinced yet on it...he's always had pc's. Thanks again!!!
