I have a new baby boy he is 13 weeks now. The breeder has really gone overboard with training and teaching her very first litter. He came potty trained, knowing tricks and being able to climb up and down stairs . The breeder has made his transition so easy. He is the best little pup I have ever owned. I have a one year old who still wants to use the puppy pads rather than go outside. This puppy has slept on my bed along with the rest from day one. No accidents and sleeps all night long. Thanks to tdj (Theresa) it has been such a joy to have a new puppy around. I read about all the problems new moms have with their pups and I praise the breeder everyday.

Wow that is amazing, how does he let you know he needs to go outside, or do you just take him outside every so often? Joey was pee pad trained when I got him, but if there wasn't a pad close to him, he wouldn't seek it out! Wish you continued success!

We take him outside every two or three hours. Just have to open the door and out he goes down the stairs and into the fenced in back yard. He pee's the moment he hits the ground. Just unbelievable. He goes all night without needing a potty break. I keep waiting to see if this is for real and it will continue to be this easy.
If I didn't already have 4 he might convience me to add one more.

Lol, that is amazing, but I hope others won't read this and expect the same results; so many people get so frustrated if their yorkies aren't trained right away. Sometimes having other dogs who are trained, helps with the training of the new puppy, but it sounds like your little boy is one smart puppy!

you know everybody keeps saying all this stuff about yorkies taking forever to go outside and become potty trained. i'm not saying Sadie is 100% trained by no means, but she's doing really really well and i don't think it will take her a year to be 100% trained either, i'm betting only another two months and she'll be good to go...my aunt's dog took 2 months to train 4 months reliable...

it just take a LOT of consistency, patience, and time and effort, and i think if the parent is really focused on the training it goes fairly well!!

Yes, it does take consistency, but 100% means never any accidents, and you can't get upset if they have a few setbacks now and then, especially during teething, and neutering/ spaying. I'm just saying that if you expect it to be a little difficult you won't be thrown for a loop if it is. I do believe that when a dog has the accident, it is never his fault; it is the owner who has failed to learn something. :)

Aww, thanks Jackie you are so sweet. And these puppies are incredibly smart and I don't think I can take credit for that. They also have a really good mommy in Zoe. And you are a great mommy too and I know you are doing everything right as well in continuing his potty training. Wyatt is blessed to have such a good mommy and it makes me so happy to know that he is in such good hands!
I will say though that I was committed from the beginning to try to make house breaking as easy as possible for these guys. Maybe I should post a thread about my technique... It was really a bit of an experiment and I wasn't sure it would work but I have to say all of them are doing wonderfully with very few accidents. Nancy is right though, any mistakes are my fault, not theirs....

I would love to read what you do to help these dogs with this; I don't think there has been a thread about this from the breeder's perspective.

Me too, but I'm sure mine can untrain him!!! (Just been through 3 doggies with diarrhea (can't spell it, but can tell you everything you ever wanted to know!) I'll def be reading that post, print and mount it framed in gold, maybe make wallpaper out of it, and use any extras for pee pads, just in case mine learn to read???? Sorry, been a long week!
