Dawn & flea control
 

Ive never seen dawn with a dog on the packaging but if its dawn dish soap than thats correct. The dawn works really well for the fleas. The down side is it can be very drying to the coat so use the dawn first then the puppy shampoo

Poor Apple has fleas? :confused: The Dawn that is used is the old fashioned Dawn like "old skool" blue color. The fleas will run up toward the head so made sure you start as high up on the neck as possible and work toward the tail. If it were me I think I would make a ring of Dawn as high around her neck as possible without getting her hair wet at first. I would think the second the fleas felt the water they would run up so you would want to trap them. Does that make sense?

Yes, I'm afraid she does (have a flea or two)...I have been using Frontline Plus, in the past, but I'm getting more and more skeptical about using chemicals...The only real chemical she gets is heartworm meds (Interceptor), but I live in S.E. Texas and we have mosquitoes as big as jack-rabbits...But then everything is bigger in Texas ;) lolol...And yes, starting out w/the dawn around the neck, before the water sounds like a good idea...Then, after she's all rinsed off, I'll wash her head and body w/puppy shampoo....Thanks :)

I did the dawn and let it soak for 5 minutes when Bella was pregnant. It did work quite well. I am using Minksheen now and seem to be having good luck with it also. I dont know if you have heard about it but supposedly it repels insects also. I was able to purchase a sample at www.westbrookdog.com for under $2.

So far Ive just had to use advantage once this yr. I only use it when I absolutely need to. I usually just bathe them with dawn if I see a flea.

Of course they are protecting themselves by telling you not to use Dawn to bathe your dog for fleas ;) She is will fine. When I had Teagan I used it on him because he came to me with fleas and he was very tiny. I had totally forgotten about doing this but it did work well. On the upside with the laminate floors it should be pretty easy to keep up on the flea control.

Oh, totally easy to keep things under control w/laminate floors...I'll wash her pillowslips, blankets and all cloth things in the living room, and I have leather furniture, so that, and the bath, and we'll be good to go...I'm just taking a break from mopping the kitchen floor, then her bath, then the entry hall and living room and dining room....whew, what a day off lolol...

I usually use a Neem oil shampoo for fleas and have had very good results...this is the one I'm using now....

I've also read about Dawn dish soap and fleas but I was uncorfortable about using it......I wondered if any soap could do the job just as efectively so a few weeks ago I had one of the boys in the tub and was just about to put the Tropiclean on when I decided to try just a plain shampoo . The only thing in grabbing distance was human Pantene so I went for it.... I suds him up real good and left it on for 6 minutes ( I wanted to be real sure ;) ) when I brushed him out two dead fleas fell off onto the white towel that I place under him so I can see better.

I also did this with a regular pet shampoo, I think it was Spa from the health food store and found a dead one. I wonder if it may have nothing to do with the shampoo but it may be that fact that as long as the soap is left on long enough they will drown (?)...:confused:

I have been using this ceder oil spray for any I may see crawling in their fur. It is fantastic!... I love the fact that it is safe and I don't have to try and grab the flea manually and remove it, I just give it a one quick mist and it is dead in under five seconds!....Everytime I used to try and pick it off it would jump or run and I would lose it but now any I see is a goner! I ordered the two little 4oz. canisters to try it out and loved it so now I'm waiting for the quart....But be forewarned it does have a strong cedar smell.....

Put the original dawn on a dry coat (per my vet) massage it all in her coat. let stand for three minutes then add warm water and rinse. Follow with a good conditioner. Dawn only kills the fleas that are on her but does not prevent them from getting on her.

Do u think it's ok if she has bad allergy?
