Sick after rabies shot So I took Winston to the Vet today to get the rabies vaccine. They gave it to him at about noon. At 4pm he started puking and puked like 7-8 times in a 30 minute time period. I immediately called the vet and they told me not to let him eat anything else today and give him a little water and start giving him pedialite. I am giving it to him through a syringe since he won't drink it on his own. I feel so bad. He just lays there all cuddled up next to his porcupine toy and doesn't want to be near anyone. Please say your prayers for him. I am sure he will be ok but I feel like a horrible mommy :( |
Does he have other symptoms? Swelling in the face? Rash? You may want to post this under the sick heading. |
No other symptoms...just the puking. Thanks for that advice. I will post it there. |
Fixed it I posted this under the sick and injured thread...sorry everyone:embarasse. I didn't realize that I put in under the general heading. |
I don't think you need to apologize for anything...Just post everywhere you want to, and the moderators will sort it out...I pray Winston will be feeling much better tomorrow, and prayers are answered, to be sure!!! |
Im worried, any updates?? Is he doing better? |

See my previous post. He is hanging in there...yay!! |
So Winston is doing much much better this morning. He was able to start eating last night and hold it down and the pedialite was his savior. His poo is a little runny today but no other problems besides that. He is wagging his tail and running around and playing. If you saw him today you would never know that he was very sick last night. Thank you all for your support and kind words. Winston sends his puppy kisses to you :p |
Oh yeaaaaaaaah....Apple and her mommy send kisses back to Winston....I'm soooo glad he's doing better today....Be sure and write down, and report everything that happened, so you can discuss this w/your vet next time.... |
Poor Little Winston, Glad to hear he is doing better. Hopefully, you will wake up tomorrow and he will be giving kisses back to you. It's so terrible when our babies get sick. It's the end of the world. At least for me it is... I wouldn't feed him too much food. As long as he is drinking he shouldn't put to much in his tiny belly. Take care....Keep us posted. |
I feel for you. My first yorkie that i ever had when she got her rabbies shot she wouldnt eat and was sick and got dehitrated and had to spend the night at the vets office on IV's. Goodluck and keep an eye on your baby. My prayers are with you and Bailey is sending your furbaby lots of kisses and hugs :) |

Wow that is scary, so good that he is doing better. Eva was due for her Rabies on Tuesday but because she has an ear and nose infection the Dr. said we would have to wait. I wonder how common it is to have such a bad reaction to that vaccine? I really worry about putting all this stuff in their little bodies. I am going to be nervous when she gets her shot in two weeks. Glad Winston is alright. |
