Trimming hair around eyes?

What's the best thing to use to trim the hair that starts to stick up in front of Jackson's eyes? He doesn't really need groomed because he got shaved in mid-June so it's perfect length right now, but his face is looking sloppier. Some tips on what to use to upkeep his face and trim the hair in front of his eyes?

Attached is a pic; he's the Yorkie on the right.

so cute! you can just grab any kind of scissors- smaller the better- and trim that area.

l use my daughters scissors she had when she was in elementary school. Their the ones that are not sharp at all so. Kids can handle them with supervision.

Some people just do an inverted "V" cut. Attachment 289011 The top of the "V" could probably go up a llittle further than what is shown in picture. Hair on nose under eye should be brushed down to be part of mustache.

I used a baby scissors with rounded tip, when I first started grooming. I held the side/chin hair firmly with one hand, so he could make no sudden movements.

I also use the rounded tip scissors I got at a dog show to trim the eye area.

You should only use scissors that are not pointed.

as a groomer i use thinning shears but the blunt tip little scissors should work for a quick at home jobbie as well. some groomers will even use clippers to kinda scoop the area. a lot of dogs don't tolerate that tho and if they fidget or you miss you can scoop half their mustache/beard. LOL not a pretty picture

I am so glad to see this question and answer.

I got so tired this week of seeing the hair so close to poking Taffy in the eyes that I had my husband help me hold her still and trimmed it down. I decided that we were going for comfort and not looks so I'm glad to know that what I did is not totally foreign to a Yorkie "look" .

I never have worried about styles myself so I decided to implement the same philosophy with Taffy....comfort above all else! Plus, now her beautiful eyes can really be seen better.

Thanks for the all the helpful tips! I may go buy a pair of kids scissors so they're not sharp. He's pretty good at holding still for me while I trim!

Actually you want something that has sharp blades, and the tip isn't pointed, but rounded, most kid's scissors have rounded tips, but their blades aren't sharp either, as they are meant for just cutting paper. Dull blades can chop, and pull hair, instead of cutting it. They do sell rounded tipped scissors that are sharp. :D
