Update on HELP,HELP,HELP! Hello to everyone, ok let me just start by sayn this is going to be kind of long:( First of all I took Lexi to the vet that next morning after seeing the worms and yeah the vet said that they were hookworms:eek: they gave her nemex that she get for 3 weeks 1time everyweek for 3. Ok just to let everyone know I already had a yorkie and a toy poodle (males) but I wanted a female yorkie and I wanted a smaller one cause my boy is 14.5lbs:cool: but anyway I got my new yorkie (lexi) from this lady my husband bowls with and she's always talking about how much she cares about animals so she claimed she was giving her to us because she stayed locked up in her crate ALL the time BUT I told my husband she gave her to us because she knew she had worms and she wasn't gonna take her to the vet:mad: Now this lady has 6 other dogs of all sizes, cats, she said her daughter has a rat and on top of that she has a deer that she has in a cage in the back of her house that she feeds milk from a bottle to and corn. And none of her animals have shots. Now on top of all that when we went to get Lexi she never said nothing about worms all she said was she doesn't eat dog food, and I said well what does she eat and guess what this lady said? CORN ON THE COB:mad: Man I was sitn in our truck getn madr by the minute. Now while we was in our truck getting ready to leave with Lexi she bought another dog up to the truck and Lexi growled at him and guess what the lady did? She reach in my truck and smack the mess out of Lexi:mad: My husband said Tammy and she was like she know I don't play with her. So when we got her home I fixed up her little room and gave her some Royal Canine and she ate every peice of it and drank water like she never had none. But I'm just so glad that I got her and took her to the vet and got her some meds and oh to let you know SHE NEVER HAD ANY SHOTS:mad: BUT now she has her first set of shots and her worm meds so hopefully she'll be just fine. She's about 10 months and she weighs 6.6lbs and soooo adorable:love: and she also has her tail. At first I was thinkn about getn it amputated when she get spayed but now that I'm seeing her with it it looks kind of cute:cool: What do you think would you keep it or get it docked:confused: Thanks to everyone I know this is LONG but I HAD TO VENT ;-) |
I would keep her tail. It sounds like she has been through enough! Good luck with your little pup! |
Thank goodness you have rescued Lexi! Sounds like she is going to be in heaven in her new home with good food, medical care, and plenty of loving. I can imagine how you felt when the lady reached in and smacked her like that -- couldn't get out of there fast enough I bet! I too would let her keep her tail since it was not docked in her first few days. Now there are all sorts of nerve endings, cartilage and such. Let her be unique. :) Congrats on your new girl and I am sure those worms will be taken care of in no time and then you all can fully enjoy your new family member! |
My little one has her tail because they didn't expect her to live so they opted not to dock her tail and you know what I love it. When she is happy her tail wags with so much enthusiasm. I leave the hair a little long so it flows. It just gives them a unique little attitude. I WOULD KEEP THE TAIL:D! |
I am so glad she is safe with you now. I would keep the tail it would be painful to dock it now and I bet she looks cute with it. |
Awe glad you were able to rescue her. Looking forward to seeing some pictures! Post when you can!!:thumbup: |
Definitely keep the tail. To remove it at this age would be very cruel as it is now part of the spinal cord and has nerves. Many vets refuse to do it if it isn't done in the first few days of life. The tail is cute and makes them very expressive. |
Wooooww, it is sad that your furbaby was in not the greatest hands. You are a blessing to this cutie. I hope you have many wonderful years together. Oooh, and I would keep the tail. |
Crikey - what a lady! Good job getting Lexi. Keep the tail!!! We love Yorkie tails!!!:thumbup::thumbup: |
Omg! She reached right into your vehicle and smacked Lexi? That's nuts! I would have flipped out, I'm sure. How cruel. I am so, so, so glad that Lexi has you. Now, she will know what a loving home is like. About her tail, I would defnitely leave it. It would be a major surgery to have it removed, plus it adds so much expression! |
sounds like you rescued this little one just in time. Please keep the tail. Molly has her tail and its so cute...i think you will love it. |
Oh, my gosh!!!! Where in VA are you? I live in VA too and I know it's against the law to not have their shots for Rabies ( why in the world is that the only thing that you have to have, I think distemper and parvo should be included to, but that's my soapbox for another time). Is the deer full grown? Or is she like a wild animal rehabilitator? I'd really like to know where she got the deer from and where she lives. I know the animal control director in Williamsburg and will gladly have her or her counter parts in your area, looked into her for violations and cruelty, as the other dogs and cats are suffering too. Just let me know and she's a phone call away. That said now I can say, I am so glad that you have Lexi in a safe, loving and healthy home. I agree with all the others, I'd never cut off the tail after the first few days of life, too painful. I'd love to see photos of her! You don't see Yorkies with their tails long very often at all, so you can proudly tell others how very special and different she is :D |
Good For You!!! Really glad to hear that you and your hubby were able to rescue that precious pup! It sounds like you got her just in time!!! I can't believe people can be so cruel to another living being! I am sure she will learn what it is like to be loved and pampered with you, just as she should have been with that previous owner! Oh yeah and I would keep the tail as another poster said she has been through enough in her short time of being on this earth. |
I am so glad you have Lexi! I can't believe she has had NO shots! That is insane! Lexi, I am sure is a cutie with her tail! |
Poor Lexi :( I can't imagine smacking Sugar ~ EVER  Glad she now has you and your husband to love on her:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

I'm in chester va. yes I think she said that she saw the deer on the side of the street and it was hurt and she got him but she know that she's not suppose to have him because when she first told my husband about it she said don't tell anyone so from that I know she knows it illegal! BUT trust your soles I have something for her  because everytime I think of Lexi eatn corn on the cob and having worms (which could have affected my other 2 dogs if we hadn't seen them) just pisses me off over and over again! Because I'm like if you can't afford to take care of any animals then why get them, I mean they do get sick or anything can happen, and if you know that your not gonna take them to the vet then you don't need to have them! But you better bet I'm gonna call animal control on her and really I don't even care if she knows that I called because I got my little Lexi now:D;) Ha Ha! Oh yeah when I did take her to the vet they did give her ALL of her first set of shot plus a bordatella(is that a word:)) so yeah I'm working her back to being healthy slowly but surely, She's just so darn cute! |
I really wanna thank everyone for their support and yeah I think I am gonna keep her tail, it's growing on me at first it looked so funny because I had never seen a yorkie with a tail and it was just crazy BUT now I must admit she the cutest little thing I've ever seen with it:D I will post some pictures of her soon I have to charge my battery in the camera. |
I am so happy that you rescued this lil angel!!! If someone ever smacks one of my babies, they better be ready to get smacked back by me!! Many happy years to you and lexi.:) |
Lexi is one lucky little dog that you and your husband took her into your home. If the lady would reach into your vehicle and slap Lexi, no telling what else she does to her animals. I would let her keep her little tail, she has been traumatized enough. |
How lucky for Lexi that you found and rescued her! I'm glad you're keeping her tail. In addition to all the other reasons, I saw a Yorkie with full tail in Copenhagen and few years ago. He looked wonderful running around with his beautiful plume. |
Lucky little baby for finding you. Keep the tail , shes been through enough already. In the UK its against the law to dock tails and rightly so.Good luck with your furbaby and post pics. |
I am so pleased you have decided keep Lexi's tail as is. I adopted a weimar 6 yrs ago that did not have the tail docked. I asked the vet about it when she was to be spayed and the vet took out his book and showed me a picture. It would be like asking to cut off my thumb or something. I couldn't do that! Yeah, she's "different" but I love her! :p It just makes Lexi UNIQUE! Good Luck to both of you, she's so blessed that you have her. |

Congrats on your little one! Wow, you have more control than me! I would have jumped out and wooped her 'you-know-what'!! |
I bet Lexi is so happy to be out of that place. I have one with a tail because he was so tiny and not gaining I was afraid to have it docked. I love the tail. |
