how to tell the difference im fairly new to yorkies, candy is almost 16 weeks old. this has prob been asked before, but how do you tell the difference between a silky and a cotton coat. this may sound silly to all you experienced yorkie ppl!!but im hoping someone can help me out!!!:D |
A silky coat lies flat, is cool to the touch, doesnt really matt maybe only a little under the arms or so after having clothes on. A cotton coat is thick, warm to the touch, gets matted if not combed regularly |
It's not a silly question at all. The only way I can explain it is by my own experience. Buddy was the softest thing I have ever felt at 14wks old. He coat felt like silk. When he lost his puppy coat around 4-6mos his new coat came in exactally the same. It was fine hair, pin straight and so very silky. Not just soft but silky. They say if a pup's eye's are green in a picture they have a silky coat. Bud's eye's show emerald green so I believe that to be true. Hope that helps. |
Hi I don't really now the difference but I know that my Yorkie Pebbles has a silky coat, and she looks very shinny and it took a while for her fur to come in it seamed very fine and not very much. Some one in my neighborhood has a cotton coat Yorkie as her coat is more fluffy and not as shinny and silky. Pebbles needs her bath at least 2 weeks or she starts to look very greasy. I do try to get her bathed once a week though. Hope this helps a bit. |
