what age to purchase a teacup to take home:) |
Hi, Welcome to YT Most reputable breeders will not allow their puppies to leave until they are 12 weeks old. Yorkie puppies, especially "teacup" ones are very small and shouldn't be allowed to leave any earlier. They need more time with their mother and siblings. Also you do not want to get a yorkie from a breeder that is advertising the puppies as "teacups". Technically there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. It is a term used by bad breeders to get more money for their puppies. You need to be careful where you get your pup from because there are MANY "breeders" out there looking to make a quick buck. |
If a pup is extremely small. Reputable breeders will not allow it to go home until it's met the 2 pound weight, however they won't let any pup go home prior to 12 weeks of age. Reputable breeders don't sell tinies, they place them in approved homes that are knowledgeable in the care of these tinies. The reason they don't sell them is they don't want to sell heart ache. These families know there is a possibility that they may incurr extra vet bills. |
