Terror on my deck!!!!!!
 
:eek: OMG!!!!! There were feathers everywhere!!! A large bird was killed on my deck, but by what!!!!!!!:eek: My husband thinks it was a hawk, or maybe a snake:eek:!!!! Prince and I were out there about 30 minutes before I saw the feathers with flesh attached!!!!!!! Our upper deck is about 10 feet above ground...it had to be a hawk.

No, I have never left Prince alone on the deck. I stated that he and I (together) were out there about 30 minutes before I saw the feathers. We have our lower deck enclosed and are going to Home Depot or Lowe's to see about getting a gazebo for the upper deck!!! That was really scary.

How scary! We have a screened in gazebo on our deck and it makes it so we use that space so much more. Our furbabies are always out there with us in it

A couple of years ago I went out on the deck in the early morning and saw tuffs of fur on the deck. Then I look across the yard and saw tuffs of fur all the across into the woods. Then I knew that that fur belonged to our 15 year old cat. He was a house cat that every once in awhile liked to go out on the deck. My 22 year old son had let the cat out when he came home a couple of hours before. I figured a coyote got him. We searched the woods but never found any trace of our kitty. It really upset me to think my kitty was some ugly coyote's breakfast. Whenever I take Piper out she is leashed and I still scan the woodline. I'm always afraid something is going to come out of the woods and scoop up Piper.

It just makes us more aware that our furbabies are vulnerable for attacks like that. Really terrible.

I am SO sorry for all you have experianced anything like that!!! I will be WAY more careful.......we live in a rural area and there have been a lot of coyote sightings lately!!!!

Gessh thats gross!! My dh was eating lunch in his car on his lunch break, he was under this tree.. all of a sudden there was drops of blood on his front winsheild..He didn't pay much attention to it..then a couple minutes later a bird's head, and body ( was seperate from head) dropped on his winsheld!!!!! Followed but some guts! He got out of his truck and looked up and he saw a Hawk up in the tree!! Sooo gross lol I would have flipped out if that happen to me!!!

Oh I just hate those darn hawks. We have them too and I have made our backyard into a hawk repellent place by hanging windspinners everywhere. I read that birds of prey don't like moving things and it seems to work because I've not seen one since I "decorated" the yard. I also have hung old cds because they spin and shine in the sun and apparently hawks don't like that either. Darn hawks. :tongue4:

What a great idea ! I will try that, cause here is florida we have all kind of big birds, I'm scares of them. I try to keep my furbabies in the enclosed pool area. Stay safe !!!

Could you post pics? I think I'm the only one on earth who doesn't know how to post pics!!:( I usually wait until my son comes home (that's why I still have Prince's Christmas pic up) or when my hubby has time. lol

A few years ago at night we heard a horrendous animal scream . I don't know what animal it was . However, a few days later leftover remains of what looked lke a gopher or jackrabbit was spotted on the propperty, it was gross.
Were on the second floor, birds hit our windows all the time. Sometimes crash hard into them. :(

heard an owl hooting at night lately
 
i've been hearing an owl hooting near our house the last few nights...do you think Sadie could be the reason he's attracted to our neighborhood now??

i'm terrified of taking her outside to pee late at night because he might be lurking to get her, but she's never out alone and she's in a chicken wire pen...i'm scared he'll swooop down and scoop her away one night, we might build a top for it...

Yes, it must have hear her or saw her. They will came back for many nights. I had 2 of them one on the tree at the end of the yard around 150 yards away and one on the house by the chimney.
I would go out with the babies and a flashlight and a broom. and I make sure we were super close to the back door. We do our thing and ran in the house. They left after around the 5th day, and haven't came back, That was a month ago , but I still go out with them. I use to let them ran all over the yard no more.
