Nose licking? Does anyone else's yorkie do this?? Both my girls have an OBSESSION with licking the inside of everyone's nose!! No feet, legs,arms... Just the NOSE! I wake up every am to my girls licking my nose  |
Yep, it's like a morning ritual for Missy. That's my wake up call, a yorkie tongue up the nostril....and then she wants a kiss! EWWWwwww :p |

Maddie does this too! It is such a strange feeling! I never had anything wet get stuck up my nose before! |
My Jewels does it just to me no one else |
Saw this and had to register and post :) I have it on good authority (the Wolf Man guy from TV who works at Combe Martin Adventure Park Zoo and who we asked about this) that terriers do this to see where you've been like reading a newspaper. The hairs in your nose catch all the particles of smell of where you've been and a Yorkie can tell this apparently. We didn't even till him we had a Yorkie that does this all the time he guessed it was a terrier! We also get this in the morning maybe they're checking we didn't disappear off somewhere in the night. Our yorkie does this when we get home as well. Then she seems to think for a bit then does it some more so it seems true! |
My yorkie doesn't do this, but I had a lab once that did. Trust me, I'd much rather have my yorkie do it. :p Luckily, there's not a lot of illness or anything that can be passed by this (humand - dog interaction) so it's probably perfectly harmless, if not a little gross. ;) |
Interesting!! Now it makes sense why all my yorkies always lick the inside of my nose (and well everyone in the family for that matter), but our chi hasnt tried. LOL. Quote:

I didn't know that. Interesting. Tila does that all the time. Hi mom, lick! Right up the nose. lol |
timba does that to me also... licky licky licky.. I love my furbaby... |
:D...we had a post about this a while back....I don't think Apple means to swab my nose, it just happens...And, as mentioned in the last thread about this, I don't have a big nose hole, Apple just has a very small tongue :animal36 lololol.... |
nose licking my little Yorkie loves to lick up my nose. after reading this I see a lot of you have the same situation. But after my little Coco does this she makes snorting noises and and sounds like she's in discomfort. Is this normal? I was going to ask the veteran, although after finding this site some of you may know the answer. |
How funny. I was starting to wonder if Sunni was a bit odd, haha. She does the exact same thing, but mostly to me. She also has a thing for my ears:eek: But my Shih Tzu likes my ears too….instead of trying to find out where I've been (like the nose explanation above) Maybe they are trying to find out what I'm thinking. Does Sunni make all the noises after she licks your nose? Coco also likes to lick my ears but not so much anymore. I loved that cause she would also nibble on my ear lobs and it would tickle and make me laugh. I'm not that pleased with the nose licking although I understand why she is doing this now. (I hope I'm posting correctly, this is all new to me, however, I'm happy to hear from all of your experiences!) |
Sunni makes little sighing noises, like she's really enjoying her moment, haha. but she is a loud "sniffer". She sounds like a human if she's up close to my face sniffing…she sniffs my whole face. Though today, was actually a day of annoyance, haha. I don't know what got into both of my dogs, but its like they plotted to drive me crazy!! One minute things were nice and calm, then insanity broke loose. Sunni, must have shredded 6 puppy pads. I kept replacing them and saying not a toy..go get ur toy..she would then Harry would want the toy..so they's fight over it…I feel like I've just spent the day with 2 toddlers! Its only 9:30 but I am so ready for bed, but Miss Sunni, just got another energy burst! :roll eyes: |
