Flipping over the water/food bowl Hi All, I have one of those bowls that has the two bowls on either side of it. Its plastic and low to the ground cause he is a puppy and I thought that it would be better for him now. Well lately when he is in his expen he just flips it over and there is a lagoon in my dinning room. When my mom puppy sits him while I am at work he does the same thing to her. Has anyone else's yorkie done this? What should I do to make him stop? Thanks! |
mine does that or she splashes the water everywhere. the only thing for tipping it over is to get the ceramic bowls that are too heavy to flip over...as far as the mess, it's puppyhood and welcome to it, we're going through the terrible twos together YAY |
They make no slash bowls that are GREAT. i had to get one for my cat because he likes to put his foot in the dish and move it around which of course splashes water all over the place. Spill-Less Smart Bowls Water Bowl by Smartco - Bowls & Feeders - Dog - PetSmart |
i use 2 small ceramic bowls and place them separetly directly on the floor; they can't flip those; you can get them from petco in the dog or cat aisle |
This is not a suggestion but a funny story about our solution when Samantha was a puppy. She kept dumping her food, too. But when I would sweep it into the dust pan she wanted to eat it there. Soooooo, I got a dustpan just for her and that is what she ate out of for over a year. No more food dumping. It was treated just like a bowl, never used for anything else, and washed regularly. When we moved, she went back to a bowl and there's never been a problem since. She has always had a separate bowl for special treats such as chicken or a bit of hamburger or steak, which she has rarely. These get picked up, washed, and put away as soon as she is finished. They do seem to grow out of it. Vivian |
Bella Mia has ceramic bowls that are too heavy to flip over, however she digs her food out of the bowl and perfers to eat the food off the floor which drives me nuts!!! I bought her a "placemat" for her dogggie bowls with the hopes she will eat the food off the mat and not the floor! |
