I am torn!!! help Ok guys, I have been looking for my baby girl, and I have had no luck, it's either a scammer or they want "and arm and a leg" haha and I am not going to breed her so I am not going to pay more that 1300$ . I have been thinking if this is something I should do. Peanut iattached to me ( he is sitting on my lap as we speak) and I know some of you also have attached yorkies that have gotten another one so I know it can be done and I know they are ok with it, but I think peanut is different. He goes everywhere with me and VERY SPOILED !! He even goes to work with me! I know that peanut would love a sister, but I also think he loves being the only one in the family that gets allllll the attention and love. My friend will sometimes bring over her girl yorkie and they play great and peanut is content with her, but when she leaves you can see peanut change in his mood..like he is saying "yeayy shes gone its just me now!" Even DH notices that so I know I am not crazy lol. I know peanut would love to hang out at home with his sister, but I know he would rather go to work with me and lay in his bed....and be a lot happier and DH agrees with that as well. And if I do get a girl I wouldnt take peanut with me everywhere I would leave him home a lot more. And I dont know I honeslty think peanut is sooo use to going everywhere with me he would be a alittle sad...And I dont know how dogs are I never really had a dog esp my own that is as attached to me as peanut is so I am not sure..maybe I am thinking too much of this i dunno So even though I would loveeee to have another girl esp a yorkie that I can spoil and put in dresses and have a forever playmate for peanut I think I need to hear what you guys say and to think about it a little more. Maybe you guys have attached single yorkies and have gotten another one and they do even better I dunno...soo let me know!!! |
=( help |
Sounds like you are just as attatched to Peanut as he is to you...maybe your not ready just yet either which is why your going back and forth. I WOULD love to be able to take Bella Mia to work with me. Sounds like that is an awesome bond you two have. However if you decide to get a lil girlie maybe you can take looking slowly and when the opportunity arises for a lil girl at your price you will know it is time. GOOD LUCK!!!! |

=) very true!! thanks |
To me it was like having my second child. They are different, you love them both. Some are funner than others to shop with though lol. I adore both of my yorkies, Luna is still a baby and takes long naps etc so I can have lots of alone time with Maggie. I say go for it. |

That is true! Peanut is my baby! My first dog..I always wanted a yorkie and I got the perfect little peanut! So I spoil him and just want to make sure he is happy!! You know? I want to be fair to him as well. :D |
You can't have just one I started with one and now I have six. We love them all. I still take them out for walk with help. We also take them to the parks and to go swimming. We enjjoy them all. They are all different. They all love each other. |
I know exactly how you are feeling. It's like you want to do what's best for them...maybe getting a playmate will make them happy but at the same time he's your shadow and you're thinking how the dynamics will change. I take him everywhere with me too. Wouldn't it be nearly impossible to take them both? I would miss my little man and I know he would miss going with me too. This is such a hard decision..........we want to make sure we don't make the wrong move. I just don't know what to do either but I'm thinking that if it's this hard then maybe it's just not right. I mean, with my boy I knew immediately and was committed 200% from the start! Keep me posted with what you decide. |
I have had Molly since 6/25. We rescued Rocky, a small 7 month old terrier mix of some kind, about 2 weeks later. We got another small dog bc Molly wasn't playful w/the kids, and was stuck to me, and I wanted them to have a dog. Though I guess I didn't really think about the extra work, house breaking 2 dogs, etc. (Which isn't too bad now, the first few weeks I had a hard time). Rocky has turned out to be good for her I think. Molly's personality has "come out" more since we got her. She wasn't playful before, and now she is with him. I think he gets on her nerves sometimes w/ playing too much, but I think they love each other! |

As a Momma to 3 lil' :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyorkgirls...it's hard to just have one BUT...something to think about if you do add to your family...whatever you are doing for Peanut now...just times it by two...time...$$$...just everything. Peanut will probably enjoy the company of another fursibling...there is just something about my girls...they seem to know their own kind...and kinda have a lil' secret society...heeheehee! Good luck in your decision & keep us posted whatever you decide! :D |

Well it would be hard to take both peanut and the new baby...I mean I would take them to familys house and all that but peanut goes to the chiropracter with me and when I go tan the girl at the front will watch him for me and I take peanut to work... I think if I were to take them both to work the new baby would have to be as mellow as peanut lol... |

If he already has a friend that comes over to play and they get along I am sure he would love to have a sister too. It might take a couple of weeks, but usually they do just great! If he was aggressive with the his friend then I would be more worried, but I think he would be just fine :) Good luck finding your new baby - if that's what you decide! |
I always had only one at a time, but then I really wanted another yorkie when my pom was 8 (only other dog I had besides yorkies) I decided to go for it and got Cali, they didn't really interact much at all so I decided to get another yorkie and then another. Each time I knew it was right, so I say go with your gut and when you feel it is right you will know it. All of mine love being by me but also snuggle together. It is hard to take 3 anywhere for me. |
I went back and forth on this for awhile too. Roxie is our girl she is a princess and the sweetest baby. We took her everywhere, but she was always used to being with us and my parents dogs or my hubbies parents dogs, when we moved even though I was home she loved to be with me, that I could barely leave without her because she would cry. We added Ryder and it took so long for us to make that decision because I didnt want Roxie to feel that we didnt love her any less because we had another babe, but she has done very well. Now when we leave she is quiet and content- and during the day she is so happy to wrestle and be with him. It was one of the best decisions that we could have made! Roxie would be lost without her brother! Although it did take time to get them used to one another and adjust. I know exactly where you are coming from with the discouragement. It is so hard to find a good breeder with a pup that is just right for you, but dont give up! |

I am really glad to hear that!!!:thumbup: |
I don't think there's a dog alive who is more spoiled or loved than Kalina. We spent every second together. She sleeps with me, etc. But then we got Matty and they are just fine with each other. Now I have two to spoil. |
:aimeeyorkHi, They keep themself busy. They play with each other. They play with toys and they sleep. When I sit that's when I get attacked. They love to be on my lap. So the ones that can jump lay next to me on the coach and the others lay around my feet. They love to be close. I love to see them play!! They are really good. I think I'm lucky. I guess I have the time for them because my children are grown up. They are also animal lovers. So we try to do family outings with our doggie family.:) |
We bought 2 yorkies, male and female, from someone I know just had them to breed. They were not from the same litter, but had been together from 6 weeks on. They were 1 1/2 when we got them. It was actually not much more work to take care of 2 as it was to take care of 1. They went on vacation with us, and to family houses and were just our babies. In Dec, Harley was attacked by a big dog and died. Isabel looked so lost without him; she had always had Harley there to dominate, play with, sleep with, snuggle, he kept her eyes clean! We started keeping our Lab in the house so she would not be alone during the day. About March, I started looking for another yorkie for company for her. I found an ad from a breeder for a 10 month old boy, neutered, microchipped all shots for $500. I researched her web site, she was not a backyard breeder. She actually bred for show. She said he was being trained for show, but he just didn't have the personality so she put him up for sale. Now, Isabel was always my baby; in my lap, slept next to me - always with me. Moses (the new puppy) broke his leg the 2nd day I had him. I had to keep an eagle eye on him to make sure he did not further injure his leg while it was cast. So, poor Izzy had to take a back seat. She looked so pitiful at times, but what could I do? He had to have attention. Mosey is healed now (his leg was amputated) and now I am trying to give Isabel all the attention she missed for 2 months. But, they play together, she has someone to dominate again. She gets the back of the chair now, Mosey can't come up there. So, long story short, 2are best. They do keep each other company, they do relate to each other. I would never have just one yorkie. To me, they seem lonely - they are such people dogs. Such babies, sweeties. |
i have only one yorkie, and we are doing very well. in the past i had spoiled my puppies so much, this time i have gtaken a different approach, Zoe sleeps in her own bed at night, and i dont feed her table food at all, i want to keep her as healthy as i can. She gets along well with her skin sister and i think one is enough for me, good luck in your decision. |
:aimeeyork Sorry to hear about your yorkie's leg. My Layla lost her leg also. It's been a week since her surgery. She fell the wrong way. I can't beleive how well she is doing. She wants to play and run. I have to keep her confined. She still has her stiches. She starts to cry when she see her brother and sisters play. When she gets upset because she can't play I have to keep her from the others so she won't see them. The vet tells me she will be jumping around real soon. I'm a nervous wreck. I'm not looking forward to that. I'll be so worry she will hurt herself again. Does Mosey jump around? |
