We have friends that have and breed Yorkies (who we've gotten both of ours from) and currently they now have 2 females who are the sweetest things...until they get too close, especially if 1 is with or has a pups. The other female (any female) has to be kept far away from the room. Those 2 get scary viscous. Their males (2, both altered now) get along with everyone. |

I'm kind of a fan of facts over embellished claims used to support individual or personal opinion. Too many people will line up with the crowd and just eat the soup they're fed. :D |
Oops, Ally, I can't edit my post for some reason or I would. It was held pending approval and once posted, no edit option. Anyhow, I realized the way I worded it, it might come across like an accusation which it isn't meant to be. I apologize in advance if it does. I just wanted to clarify the claim of will vs might. |
sorry; i usually type pretty fast; of course i dont have 100% proof to say for sure it will; however it's proven that the hormones might be a factor or could be a factor. i just feel if the dog will not carry any babies then there is no need for her to go into cycles of heat; because that will lead to stress, anxiety and agression. their bodies are different than ours. |
Points well taken ladies I know I should get her (Tootsie ) spayed my vet also told me that approximately 80% of unspayed females get mammary tumors, I absolutely understand however..... I really do trust my vet but when it comes to spaying simply with shot only, for anesthesia I do not approve maybe this is because he is both large and small animal vet??????? When he sent Samntha home after spaying her he did not give her pain meds????? I was upset to say least..... What to do? Thanks for all the responses!!!! I love Yorkietalk!!!!!! It is good to be able to pool all the information everyone has!!!!!!!! Thanks so much. Today is a new day and furbabies are doing okay after horrible last couple days they are snuggling right now!!!!!! :animal36:animal-pa:animal-pa |
I totally understand where you are coming from and your are right to be concerned; however if you trust this vet and you have been going there for a while, then you should let him operate on tootsie. If you want you can request pain meds after the surgery; however I really don’t think that she will need it; my dog was tired but wasn’t crying from pain; plus the pain med being an NSAID it did damage her stomach; because I will give it to her first thing in the morning and sometimes she wont eat; so now she has gastritis; I really hoped that I never gave her the pain med. Anyway, I think it will be fine; nothing to worry about. This is routine surgery. |

My Bigger yorkie Samantha is now on tranquilizers. They squabbled last night but today seems better, just keeping them separate. Stressful living like this though :-( If we can survive till spay Monday and keep them apart, for awhile. Vet said just work with behavior modification only bringing them together for brief periods and gradually increase time spent together, Praising them for good behavior. Thanks to all who responded!! Any more advise greatly appreciated.:) |
Both on Tranquilizers for calming action to try to diffuse this /toots gets spayed tomorrow we will see..................... Another squabble today :(:( |
I have two males with the same problem. I had both of them neutered but didn't help. Im still glad that i had them neutered though. I have to watch them closely when i let them together. I always keep them separated when i can't watch them. |
Thanks for this info. I have a 6 1/2 month female and a 5 month old male. The female (Tessie) started playing Alpha girl today and pinning the male (Hobbes) down on the floor. She never does this. They are suppose to be spay/ neutered September 4 so I hope she doesn't go into heat. I was also a little worried about the spay because I have always had male dogs. Everyone has made me feel better about this decision. Also, I have a wonderful vet that owns a yorkie. |

I guess we have to do what we have to do to stop the aggressive behaviors, especially if it becomes so out of control where the dogs are hurting each other. Best wishes to your female on Monday. |
Toots did get spayed Monday and is doing great. Samantha Is doing much better she is not near as aggressive. At this time I do want to publicly thank Yorkie K9 yorkie trainer, Leslie has been a godsend for me and I do so appreciate all the help she has given me. She has given me some excellent tips and is helping get back my sweet Samantha. Not the Bitchy Brat she was trying to become...... Its not been easy but we are working and teaching her No one is aloud to be mean to siblings in this house.. Thanks to all who have offered their help!!!!!!! I appreciate all help!!!!!! :animal36:animal-pa:animal-pa |
For anyone that is just started reading this --things are finally getting better at my home. Samantha has a trianing collar on and has had some extensive training going on. She is really starting to be a much less stressed out dog!!!! We really have had a rough go at it though. It was certainly worth it!!!!! If anyone needs help with aggression or help in changing your furbabies attitude please contact yorkie k9 trainer, Leslie has helped me so much without her help and the training she has helped with I may have been faced with re-homing one of my 2 girls. We still have some exercizes to work on but what an improvement!!!!!!! At Leslies\'s suggestion Samantha will be going to an obedience class that will be one on one. Thanks again for all the suggestions one and all!!!!!! :animal36:animal-pa:animal-pa |
