My Bailey is 2.3 lbs!! Bailey was weighed at the vet today and he is 2lbs 3 ounces at 17 weeks and I am so happy!!:):) I am a nervous wreck when he is around other people or my bf`s dogs for fear of him getting trampled! I hope he gets to be at least 5 lbs..why people want itsy bitsy doggies I will never know it is stressful when they are super tiny! |
I, totally, agree w/u about wanting one a little sturdier! Apple was 2 lbs. no ounces at 11 1/2 weeks old, and slated to be about 4 - 4 1/2 lbs. at maturity...At her 9 month check up, she was 4 lbs. 14 ounces, and I couldn't be more pleased...I'm sure at her 10 month "weigh-in", she'll be 5 lbs., and I think that would be perfect...I'm so glad your little Bailey is putting on weigh, nicely...I think good food, good love, and good care has lots to do w/our little ones growing up to be all they can be! |

Yes, At least 5 lbs, I would feel more at ease! Do you know when they stop growing, is it a year?..love the name Apple btw, so cute!:p |
Their bone structure generally stops growing at 6 months old:) |

I agree, I was so happy when Lexi reached 4 lbs and she is now a little over 9 months. She is so sturdy and can hold her own. She still is little but she seems to be able to deal with the little things better and bounce back quickly:D Hugs Cheryl & Lexi:aimeeyork |

Sounds like a good vet check-up  I'm reallllly hoping Missy will make it to 4 lbs, but I'm starting to lose hope. She's 11 months old now. It IS stressful having such a little Yorkie. |

I agree, small = scarey! I didn't want a little bitty one for many reasons...maybe not as big as mine but that's okay...better big than little in my house because of my kids and enormous hubby...lol! |

What cuties you all have. These little ones can be worrisome for sure. I got my KiKi at 14 weeks old and she was 1 lb!! She is now 20 months old and 3 lbs...she is a tiny one...she had a very rough 1st year...but now she very healthy.....Big or small ....I just love them all!! Yorkies are a very special breed :-) |
My Kaji is 6 lbs and I still think he's small. I've already stepped on his little paw twice! I just don't see him coming sometimes. I don't think I could handle having an itty bitty baby boy. Too bad not everyone thinks the same. I'm getting a new roommate (my current roommate can't afford her room by herself) and I met her when Kaji and I came back from a walk. Her first words *speaking to my current roommate* "when you said yorkie, I had imagined an itty bitty thing, he's so big!" |
I think it is all in their bone structure as well. Roxie is 5 lbs she is sturdy, long, and tall, but her bone structure is very petite. Ryder is built, LOL, he is tall, long, and filled out at about 8 lbs. It is scary having them be so little but you are a good mommy and supervise him well. It will be a whole new experience with our new pup because he is going to be smaller and I will have to watch him around his mammoth brother and sister. LOL |
