was that his Penis? okay so i was outside and when i came back in i noticed that Jerry was GOING AT IT with one of the girls stuffed animals.. so I got him off and he just kinda plopped over... when he did that I noticed the red "penis" thing, but it was so long!! out farther than i have ever seen before. and at the end it looked like maybe one of his testicles had popped out too, like a red round ball at the end of the shaft. is that normal?? he had been diagnosed with a hernia from birth, and had the surgery, and the vet checks it every time we go in and its been fine, but could this be a problem with the hernia? should i be worried? please someone tell me this is normal!! just incase you wanted to know, hes only 5 months. and it went back in, i had him roll over so i could make sure everything looked right when it went back in but i have no clue what im looking at! |
Yes, that is perfectly normal. When a male get excited the penis will come out and a hard knot will form at the end of the shaft. If they get supper excited then knot will stay hard, the penis will stay out and the male will start ejaculating. Since he is just a puppy you can just try to discourage the behavior by distracting him and getting him to do something else. |
While I have seen Scooter's "lipstick", I have not seen any other objects pop out with it. I have never measured Scooter's "lipstick" so I can't help on the length. Is there an emergecy vet since its sunday in your area that you can call to just ask the question? They may want you to come in but they will tell you. The one near me has been more than helpful when I call with random questions. You will have a much better weekend if you get an answer instead of waiting for your vet. Good luck! |

Lol, yeah, I've never seen any "balls" popping out of there but there was ONE time where I almost threw up. lol. It was about 2 weeks after Jackson was neutered and he started goin' at it with a stuffed bear. All the testosterone was not out of his system yet, I suppose, but when he got off the bear, I was like WTF! I had never seen a small dog with such a big... well, you know. He was standing on all fours and the thing was near touching the ground, red and sticking out. Needless to say, I was pretty grossed out and my little brother was all like "What?!" and we wouldn't tell him, lol. It hasn't ever happened again and I hope it doesn't! :p:eek: I know it's part of nature but I'd rather not see my dog like that. |
That behavior is not unusual although it is correctable. Take away the objects of his affection and if you catch him doing it, correct it like you would any other bad behavior. Allowing the behavior can cause them to get sore and infected. |
We've all heard the saying "hung like a ...." well...that applies to dogs too You got advise so I wont say a word - (besides I have females) .....but with hernia isssues I don't blame you for wondering - |

Yes! LOL.... Thats how they get "locked up" with females I have a male chi and I have experienced the same!! Its gross:p |
yes its normal. |
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwwwww!!! Ha ha, I'm so happy Thor is almost asexual. He's like a teddy bear. A teddy bear that licks himself sometimes. |
My baby humped his teddy and ended up with a big whopper, wow did it ever upset him he wouldn't walk and was really perplexed for a while, I haven't needed to take teddy away as he's never done it again, he just beats teddy up now and throws him out of bed, so cute. |

I'd be getting him neutered ASAP to hopefully curtail that behavior! |

Yep! We affectionately call Brody Little Big D**k . . .:D I have a funny story as well: My husband and I were vactioning at WDW when I received a phone call from my daughter exclaiming that Brody was with his humpy duck and that his pee pee was stuck half way out and it's been out for about 15 minutes. I had to explain to her how to pull a little bit on his hairs to make the skin roll back up on it . . .meanwhile this was happening while walking through the Magic Kingdom . . .it must of been a pretty interesting conversation to hear one side of . . .:lol tears |
My first time I was puppy sitting Brandy and Spitfire. Before my friend left them with me she said that Brandy might be in heat but don't worry about it. Now this is the first time that I have had a male and female who were not neutered/spayed. Brandy, Spitty, and I crawled in bed and fell asleep. In the middle of the night, I hear woofing from one of the dogs. I got up and went down the hall into the livingroom and turned on the light. In the middle of the room was Spitty going woof and Brandy just standing there. All of a sudden Spitty turned and tried to walk away. (picture two dogs each going a different way but unable to). Then they start whining and crying and they were still connected. OMG I actually tried to put some cooking oil on his thingy to get them apart. That didn't work, I even tried an ice cube. I was so upset. I went into the kitchen to see what else I could use and I heard them running down the hall. They got themselves unstuck without me. Next morning I called their owner and told her what happened. She spent quite a bit of time laughing at me. We all have a first time. |
This just happened to my 9month old, was grossed out and worried in equal measures, even he was perplexed lol |
Well....I'm just laughing and laughing at my desk :yelrotflm But anyway, poor Tyson was neutered before he ever figured anything out about humping. Occassionally though, when I let him outside he must scent a female or something, because he will spontaneously start "air humping." It cracks me up :D:D:D because he turns around and looks at me with this all confused look! If he could talk I just know he would be saying "WTH MOM:eek::eek::eek::eek: ??" |
The lump at the base is called the Knot. It is used to complete a tie with the bitch during breeding. Even neutered dogs can and will display a knot when excited. It's normal, if a bit gross. If your little guy gets stuck out, with the knot swollen, you will need to assist him. Use a cool wet rag to help the blood go back to the body. Otherwise, there's nothing at all to worry about. |
Hahaha... This is an old thread, but I had a good time laughing. Luckily I've only seen my Couver's penis a couple times. It only comes out when he is reallllly upset about something. |
isn't it cute? lol when i first saw it, i freaked out, since i didn't know what that was, but now, i sometimes take pictures of it and send it to my family. they think its gross, but he's my baby and i don't see anything gross by it LOL when my baby has his thing out, i tap him and say.. *no boner* and it slowly goes away LOL |
I never had a male before. only many, many females, so grateful I joined YT and discovered this about neutered dogs. I have read if the penis stays out to long it can get dry and difficult to get it back in and has to be lucubrated, I PRAY this never happens with Cody, I would be scared senseless, would have him tucked under my arm with flapping penis and headed to my vet to put it back where it belongs. I would be to scared of hurting him or IT by trying get it back where it belongs. |
Putting it back is not hard! Really, I promise. I have a chi who is terrible and gets stuck a lot. Just get a bit of KY jelly. The water based kind ONLY, and lube it up. Then gently work the sheath back over the penis. The lubrication will help, and it should go without too much trouble. |
o.o i didn't know that it can just get stuck outside and get dried..... if that happens i have to lube it up...? o... m... g not sure if i'm ready for that... no matter how cute his little wee wee is.. lol |
I have 2 male yorkies and thankfully have never even see their wee wee's! The 10 year old has never had his out that I have seen and so far my 1 year old has not either. Both are fixed. The 10 year old only tries to hump the 1 year olds, but the girl puppy won't put up with it and makes him leave her alone and the male puppy just ignores him or walks away. I hope I never see their inner parts! LOL. I had a fox terrier growing up that would let his hang whenever he was excited though and it was not fun when I had friends over. |
