A big *hello* from new Yorkie puppy owner !!! Hi there, My name is Dani and my husband and I just got a Yorkie 2 1/2 weeks ago! Her name is Poppy and she was born on May 6, 2009, so she's about 13 weeks old and 2 lbs, 4ounces. This is her the day I got her: This is my first time ever having a dog. I've raised seven cats, one that lived seventeen years and just passed this past January. We currently have three kitties and one new little Yorkie puppy. :) I've had about a million questions and thankfully friends of mine who have small dogs have been able to help. She's doing well. We had a little scare a few days after we got her, but anti-biotics and lots of vitamins and tender loving care, have made her *strong* and happy. We are not crate training her, so she has a lot of accidents, but that's to be expected I'd imagine since she's still a little baby. So I just wanted to introduce myself and introduce Poppy. :aimeeyork I look forward to getting to know you all! |

My little Luna was born May 26th :) I have a two year old yorkie as well. They are like potato chips you know, you can't have just one! On the housebreaking, have you tried the puppy pads? My dogs do great with them. Darling baby, and welcome! |
Welcome! Your baby is adorable!!!!! |
OMG! Is she just stunning! What a beautiful baby. Have you thought of using an ex-pen for housetraining purposes? It worked great for Missy. I just set it up to section off an area for her, in there I put her food/water/peepads/bed/toys. She took to using her peepads right away and has been consistant ever since. I also like having a "safe" place to put her if I need to. Welcome to YT! |

Welcome to YT, Your baby is adorable. |
Hi, Welcome to YT! Your little Poppy is just precious!! I love her little pink sweater, congratulations on having her. You will find a wealth of information here :) |
Welcome to YT...great info can be found here and great people too. We have 1 puppy left from a litter of 5. He's 11 weeks old and looks like Poppy's brother. He's still available, so look out if he comes looking for his sister...haha. We own 4 other Yorkies and have 2 more in the family. When we all get together the Yorkies have a reunion too. Yorkies have a way of adding love and joy to the worst day. They brought all of us together..welcome again and enjoy your puppy. http://C:\Users\Jeff\Documents\rowdy 11 wks- small.jpg |

Hello and welcome to YT! Your little Poppy is simply adorable! I love her name too! |
:welcome4: Welcome Dani and Poppy! Love her name, sounds very energetic just like a Yorkie puppy! Hope you enjoy your time here, be careful --- it can get addicting! :) I clicked on her picture -- what a little doll! I am sure she has you all wrapped around her little paw already! What a cutie! |
Hello and welcome to YT:aimeeyorkShe is a cutie:p |
Welcome to you and Poppy! :welcome4: She is a little doll!:D |
Thanks everyone! She can be so naughty but she DOES have me wrapped around her little paw!!!!! We are using puppy pads religiously and exclusively, because she isn't allowed outside for a few more weeks, vet's orders due to the infection she arrived with. Not until she's been off her anti-biotics and special vitamins for at least two weeks and is doing well. So we have two puppy pads in one part of the house, one in the bedroom and one on the bed, where she sleeps with me. Generally, the pads are used...but she has a lot of accidents. A few a day. I guess it is to be expected at this point. She isn't expected to get very big so the vet said we'll probably always be using pads.....I'm sure most of you can relate to this, as these are tiny little babies! I've had one friend suggest maybe one of those pellet litter boxes for puppies, but I think we would start having problems with the cats in that instance since at one point we were using pellet litter for the cats.....it'd be way too confusing for everyone! lol thanks for the welcomes!!!!!!!! |
