I think Meg Needs a Sister (or Brother)!!! Okay, I'm going public! I have been thinking about getting Meg a brother or sister (preferably sister) for a month now. I'm still trying to talk my hubby into it, but I don't think that will be too much of a problem considering how nuts he is about Meg. The shelter here posts ads with the animals they have available for adoption, and last week I pretty much fell in love with one little girl just from looking at her picture. Luckily for her, but unfortunately for Meg and I, she was already adopted out to a loving home. Anyway, the search is still on. I'd like to adopt a shelter dog this time around if I can find one that will fit into our family. Of course, Meg is only 4 lbs and I work, so my thinking is that I need to get a dog that is under 6-7 lbs so they can play together and wrestle without Meg accidentally getting hurt. Do you think this is realistic? There is one porkie Yorkie in need of a home who is very sweet, but around 14 lbs, and it just makes me too nervous. What do you all think? Does anyone have Yorkies on both ends of the size spectrum? |
I ended up buying a chorkie LoL he's only 2 lbs right now at 3 months. Best thing I ever did for Marley. They love each other so much now. It was a rough start though. Marley didn't want anything to do with him the first week. There were no adoptable dogs Marleys size when I looked and I can't get just any dog because of my allergies ( horrible, I break out in hives, itchy eyes, wheezing ) to animals. I wish you luck though in your search. My DH always told me no dogs. Then I got Marley. Then he was dead set in NO MORE DOGS and then we got Colt. LoL I love my DH but he has no backbone when it comes to telling me no LoL |
I am thinking for 6 years and kept thinking until now ! I am not the kind of person who does things in a "whim" otherwise i would have a full house again. I think you are right about being concerned on the size, i have a few friends who have dogs of different sizes, one of them has a big German Shepard and a tiny yorkie, she is fine as the yorkie "terrior" takes care of the G.S. but the other has a mix and a yorkie, she needs to keep them separate all the time, the mix does hurt the tiny yorkie, they like to play rough and that is the problem. Good luck in your search ! Hope you will find a great rescue ! |

I'm not in any huge rush to get a second dog, so I can wait for the right one to come along. I'd liek to get a rescue, but if Meg's parents have another litter, it'd be great to get one of those pups! Then they'd actually be brother and sister! |

I think it will just depend on teh dog, like you said. It's just hard since I have to work and won't be able to supervise full time for the first month or however long it would take for the big dog to learn to play nice. |
Here I don't have any pics in my album LoL so here is a thread with Colt in it.. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...ing-along.html |
They are so cute together!!! |
