male and female size? are females normally smaller than males ?? (full grown) |
I'm not a breeder, but I *think* that the sex doesn't matter. I believe it's the pedigree that dictates size. On a side note, Lexi is 1yr+3 months and weighs 5 lbs. Her mother weighed 6 lbs. and her father weighed 5 lbs. Carter is 6 months old and weighs 8lbs. His mother weighs 7 lbs and his father weighs 8 lbs so we knew he was going to be bigger (a real man's man!) |
I think it depends on the genetics. Although chachi and Jewels breeder said her females were always smaller. |
I think in most breeds AKC states different sizes for males and females. They do not do this for yorkies. |
I don't really know, but the females I've had in the past have always been fine-boned (however you want to say it) where the males in their litters were bigger boned. I don't know if that is always the case, though. |
It depends on the genetics. Yorkies come in all sizes, male & female. The male must always be smaller when you are breeding. That's what I have been told. Princess is going to breed in her next heat, she's in heat right now, but just turned two, and I rather wait till the fourth heat. She's 4 1/2 pounds, her mate is 2 1/2 pounds, he's so small, I hope he can reach! Hope you have a nice day! Gina & Princess  |
