How can you tell a yorkie is not a silky? Someones ad says Yorkie for sale but when I went to see her they said she is a Silky. Maybe they meant yorkie with silky coat??? Thank You |
A silky is a whole different breed. They look a lot like yorkies but get bigger and their coat does not usually hit the floor (if I am wrong, correct me on this). They generally are cheaper than yorkies, and I have seen them called yorkies in an attempt to fetch a higher price. |
I don't know 100% either but I think your are right. I think Silky's are more solid (stalky) and grow bigger with lighter coloured hair for the most part. But other than that, I don't honestly know. Maybe someone will.... |

As puppies it is very hard to tell the difference but it may be as you stated that she was saying that her coat was a silk coat. |
